5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours a dull chestnut color with an inch or so of khaki head. Oh, the aroma. Holy smokes! Pun intended, of course. Very smokey and sweet aroma tickles the nostrils in a way that makes say "Oh, that’s nice." Woody, campfire smoke mixed with caramel and brown sugar wafts so gracefully from my mug I can practically see it. If campfires smelled so good I’d find myself sleeping on dirt in a tent thrice a week. The flavor is much more subtle than the nose. Slightly dry, nutty, and smokey with no more than a wisp of noble hops to say Auf Wiedersehen! as the sip embarks on a perilous journey down your throat. The palate is robust yet quaffable, rating a perfect 10 on the Goldilocks scale of alcohol content vs. drinkability. Without resigning myself to hyperbole, I must unequivocally state that this is the most perfect beer ever crafted by humans or outer space aliens.
Volcano beer. Nice aroma and smoked taste with dark brown/red color. Good for a rainy day.

Bottled @ Hopaholic. Pours deep brown with white head. Strong smoked notes both in aroma and taste, bacon and some cheese. Oh my, do I love rauchbier? visionthing (5337) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 7, 2017
50cl bottle from Sip, Tallinn. Pours clear dark mahogany coloured with a modest, beige head. A bit milder smoke aroma than expected, but it’s still dominating. Malt, caramel and hints bonfire. Sweet, but quite balanced also surprisingly balanced flavourwise with pleasant smoke flavours and hints of dried fruits. Smooth and enjoyable.

500ml bottle at the 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. Dark mahogany/brown and translucent. Fair bit of carbonation but very little resultant head. Heavy smoke on the aroma but there is also a good dollop of chocolate malt. The bitter taste perseveres to the finish. It’s far from subtle but lovely nonetheless. Blackberry, burnt sausage, bitter chocolate and yest extract combine in the ambrosial aftertaste. A great beer, maybe a bit heavy for what it is but I expected that! Delicious. At Chappies social house. Pours dark dark brown with a paper tin white head. Aroma and taste. of toasted burnt wood and or smoked sausage. Finishes with continued liquid smoke. I appreciate the effort but not for me.

Aromaty wędzonego sera żółtego, jakichś domowych wędlin. W tym piwie mógłbym się kąpać. Wszystko, ale to naprawdę wszystko w nim jest dla mnie perfekcyjne. Dym, słody, ślady chmielu. Genialne. saintbase (681) - Bydgoszcz, POLAND - MAY 22, 2017
