COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlenkerla Smokebeer Wheat is an ale with light smoky aroma. As Bavarian wheat beers, it is being brewed with a mixture of both barley malt and wheat malt. The portion of barley malt is hereby a classic Schlenkerla smokemalt, while the wheat malt remains unsmoked. Served unfiltered with its natural haziness, Schlenkerla Wheat reaches its full aroma through bottle fermentation with fine top fermenting yeast.

Jabic (529) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - APR 14, 2017
Ar: Big aroma of smoke, slightly phenolic, very reminiscent of smoked black forest ham; some toasted notes and oily, dark bread. Ap: Deep amber, clear; small off-white head with moderate-good retention, leaving a frothy cap. T: Deep, huge smoke up front, oily and moderately phenolic; clove and black pepper, with burnt peaches; low bitterness; smoke lingers into the finish, with a fairly tannic, phenolic quality. P: Medium body with high carbonation, finish is medium-dry. O: This delivers on the smoke flavor, big time; unfortunately, the wheat beer really gets lost, other than in the mouthfeel and the slight notes of peach and clove that pop through; the smoke flavor, while intense, is a bit too tannic and phenolic, with a very oily quality that just clashes.

Pours murky brown with foamy white head. Aroma: crisp, wheat, smoked (hint of bacon). Flavour follows aroma, theres also citrusy sourish notes, some banana esters in the background. Finish is dry. Body is moderate medium, texture soft, carbonation moderate. Im 100% this one wasnt in best condition.

Navers (85) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - MAR 28, 2017
Bottle from The Cave, Glasgow. Beer served in 10C, Nonik Glass. Aroma and taste of smoked wood is noticeably lighter than in Mrzen or Urbock, but still rich smokiness dominates the beer, but this time with some more wheat flavor. Mouthful is light and easy, carbonation is mild, beer is surprisingly drinkable and leaves nice aftertaste.
