Norwegian: Dette er en karakteristisk IPA frå den amerikanske vestkyststilen. Kjenneteikn ved dette ølet er ein fengjande humlearoma og ein solid bitterheit. IPA går godt med litt robust mat, men kan også nytast åleine.

English: This is an IPA in the style known from the American west coast.

From the Can poured into Spiegelau IPA glass. Pours clear amber with huge off white head that lasts some time. Nose is ripe tangerine, some pine, generaly orange fruit. Taste is grassy herbal less fruity in the taste, quite bitter. Finish is prolonged herbal bitterness and kind of creamy mouthfeel... Pretty good...

Can. Pale amber with an off white head. 3+ Indelicate aroma of blood orange, lime, bread, pine, medicinal spices. Moderately sweet with light bread. Light bodied despite the hearty flavours. Citrus and a fair whack of pine. Clean which accentuates the firm to strong bitterness. I do like an IPA that whilst not boozy feels like 6.5% is a strong beer. Also one that does not entirely give away the heritage of the style for the latest American foofaraw.

From one of my top brewers comes this insane palate wrecker of an IPA now available here in Oz so I don’t have to bug Norwegian friends to send a few across. At just on chilled and into a snifter. Not much life displayed as the wide mouth ring-pull frees from the can. Orange amber and jut shy of bright. Strong note of vine clippings, nettles, pine cones and sappy resin on the nose. Lifeless otherwise with no head bar a ring of white on the meniscus. Extremely piney and brash, almost abrasive on the palate. This one is for seasoned drinkers and no nancy newcomers. Bitter as the gates of hell and lasting. Camphorous with bitter gourd and bitter melon, grapefruit and blood orange in abundance. Underneath the carnage it is grainy with a lovely, if not hidden, toasted malt profile. Body is light, alcohol has a bit of heat, but overall it kicks far above its weight. Insane. Took a good half hour to down and I actually thought I was rushing. Sadly one was enough, but this was IPA on steroids. Unique. (33cL can, BB 08/08/17, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Overripe tropical fruits, mango, bitter orange coming up, pine, resin. Hazy, dark gold, medium, creamy, off-white head. Medium bitter. More bitter citrus fruits, resin, pine, more tropical fruits, turning very bitter, soft carbonation, medium to full bodied, bittersweet finish. Decent IPA, quite intense throughout. Can from Whole Foods Market, Kensington.

Pours dark orange with head that quickly disappears. Aroma is blackcurrant and pine with orange citrus. Taste is pine and strong distinct orange zest, like oranges have been used. Sweet first impression that ends quite drying with woody aftertaste. A very distinct and memorable IPA

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2016 Can. Hazy orange-amber color with eggshell head. Aroma is grapefruit, toasted malts. Taste is pineapples, mango, juicy fruits, petroleum lots of thick sweet exotic fruits, a nice toasted malt body and a refreshing medium-bitter finish. Oily, rather thick mouthfeel. Quality stuff.

Can from Whole Foods. Amber colour, white foam. Fairly standard IPA stuff, slightly caramelly body, with some citrusy hops, hint of orangey marmelade, small grapefruit. It’s a solid IPA, a whole lot better than the pale ale tried from the same brewery.
