Starting off with one of my dear favorites. Gorgeous choclit taste, and when served at right temp a close to "complete" beer. TyggaBrown (430) - NORWAY - NOV 2, 2013
One of the best beers I’ve ever tasted, and the mix of bitterness from hops that mostly remind me of IPAs and the sweetness of the best dark porters make this an unforgettable experience. Nicely bitter, heavy, well balanced, coffee, cocoa and dark basements, and the alcohol is nicely hidden behind all of these great tastes and aromas. PapaVillum (944) - Valby, DENMARK - JAN 10, 2014

One damn tasty beer. Bottle at brygghuset. Nose is chocolate, coffee, definitely hoppy, more leafy kind of amazing that they shine through. some licorice. really nice nose. Taste is smooth coffee, with a nice tender hoppiness throughout. One of the best of any norwegian brews I’ve had to date. magnusgb (4) - Trondheim, NORWAY - FEB 17, 2011 does not count
Batch 160, bought in Daglighallen, Trondheim. A great imperial porter with loads of caramel taste. Raisins, nuts and some vanilla is also present. One of the better porters I have tasted.

In my view, this is one of the best Ægir products that I’ve had thus far. Pours with a dark brown – almost black – color with a small but well retained tan head. The lacing is pretty remarkable, being tight and sticky.
This ale is not amazingly aromatic. The aromas that are picked up include a very focused burnt coffee smell, with faint hints of licorice and chocolate. The creamy mouthfeel is accompanied by a variety of flavors, notably coffee, toffee and licorice. There’s a wonderfully bitter climax right before the finish, leading to an almond flavor that lingers on for a few minutes. What’s surprising about this is how easy it is to drink, largely due to the virtual absence of any alcohol taste. Overall, this is an excellent beer, despite the somewhat weak aroma.

Bottle at Cardinal in Stavanger.
Dark brown, almost black with a small head. Good aroma of coffee, licorice, roasted malt and with something sweet. I really liked the creamy mouth feel on this one, very good! Aftertaste was long and quite dry, a great beer!

Pours all black with a brown lacing. Aroma of smoke, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Amazinligy good balance. Full bodied, with a nice moutfeel. The high alcohol is well hidden in the mouth, but gives a nice, warm feeling in the chest. To summarize it’s a really, really good ale, complex taste that’s well balanced, all you need from an imperial porter. ALLOVATE (3004) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 16, 2016
Cheers to bergstaden for this one, even if its taken me three years to open the bottle. Skål!jesperhammer (4727) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 19, 2016
At cellar temperature and into a snifter. Thiny looking and translucent - a deepest, darkest cola brown. Headless and still. Deep blend of umami, charbroiled meatiness, velvety Belgian chocolate, fresh strapped leather, woody spice and plum wine on the nose - beautifully consumed. Medium bodied and velvety smooth like a fine Merlot with the viscosity of a chocolate liqueur. Quite a bit of warmth aides the complex malt and yeast nuances. The umami of the nose comes through in leaps and bounds. Lots of chocolate, light residual sweetness and nuttiness. Plum and savoury fruit notes build. Long in the swallow. A very slow sipper, but a wonderful one. Love this beer. A true imperial porter that is perfectly balanced and steers well clear from being over the top. Absolutely delicious!! (50cL, no date stamp)
