Flam hotel with dinner. Really powerful flavor at 4.7% - tons of burnt chocolate malt and dirt. Great. Had a few of these. Our server warned me that THIS beer would make me hungover. I laughed and ordered one more, which I brought back to the room for a nightcap. 100517. Can from Bucket Boys. This is a very good porter with loads of dark chocolate aromas with some vanilla also in there as well. Looks great when poured into the glass with a big head of light coffee coloured foam that sits above a dark brown beer. Smooth and silky in the mouth. Draught at brewpub. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a nice tan foamy head that reduces to a film that lasts. Metallic aroma to start but nice coffee, toffee, smoke and dark chocolate as it warms. Flavour is nice and sweet, with a good roast bitterness and a hint of warm spice. Finish is dry, lively and full-bodied. Dry chocolatey aftertaste. Delicious. Draft at Cardinal. Almost black, tan head with good retention. Aroma of melted Hershey bars. Taste is similar. Nice body.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2014 Pours a clear dark brown, with a small tan head that fades away quickly. The aromas are roasted and mild. There’s some coffee, some cacao, and some roasty aromas, and they are very balanced – No one aroma sticks out more than the other. The taste is quite sweet, with a very slightly dry-ish finish. The body is medium-heavy, and the carbonation is soft. Donkere bruine kleur met een volle lichtbruine kraag. Ruikt zacht, vanille, herfstfruit en beetje chocolade. Smaakt chocolade, koffie, vanille en beetje crème. Iets bittere afdronk.
