adster (773) - HUNGARY - NOV 5, 2016
Aromái a behatárolhatatlan, szertelenül vibráló, barley wine-os hangulatok mentén alakulnak, a bogyós gyümölcsök, borókabogyó, illetve a sült húsok desszertszerű, s likőrös kísérőjeként felfogható illatjegyek kusza halmazát alkotják. Mély és tartalmas az ízvilág is, melyben megtalálhatóak az aromák ízbeli leképeződései, s a karamelles, mézes malátás alapokon nyugvó fűszeres, vadvirágos, gyógynövényes karakter jegyei is. Legyen bár akármennyire is vadorzó a főzet, éppoly szerethető is egyben.

PapaVillum (912) - Valby, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2016
Overall: Slowdrinking at its best! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,33 L bottle from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Clear, deep amber colour. Close to non-existent, slighly orange head. Apple, alcohol, candy sugar nose. Apple and pear flavour. Fruit. Herbs. Honey. Thick body, sticky and oily. Flat carbonation. Very sweet, with quite a lot of subdued bitterness as well. Brown sugar. Some banana. Medicinal bitterness, in addition to the herbs. Warming. I liked this one a lot.

Nieprzejrzyście brązowy płyn mieni się bursztynowymi refleksami. Aromat jest potężny jak ramię Thora. Prężą się w nim karmel, kandyzowane owoce, brązowy cukier, pieczone jabłka i nuty alkoholu. To pierwsze odczucia. W smaku przede wszystkim syrop owocowy, landrynki, winogrona i rodzynki, orzechy i śliwki. Piwo ma bardzo winny charakter - taki słodko-gorzki

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with hints of dark fruit. Sweetish malty spicy caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty caramel and dark fruit finish.

Small sample from 2010 vintage - Amazingly complex with tons of sherry, port. Huuuuge malts, caramel, complex breadcrust. Very bitter finish, but it’s good! Slight alcohol-burn as to be expected from 13,2%.

Pours a beige to brown head with warm alcohol and strong malts with soya as well. Amber colored body. Thick in mouth. Could match with sweet and sour asiatic food. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big thanks to bergstaden for getting this one across to me. Everything about this ale just worked so well I wish I had the luck of cellaring a few more.
At cellar temperature and into a tulip. A solid yeast pack holds on the pour. The body of beer a shimmering, deep, ruddy copper. Head is hardy; holding for much of the length a mere half centimetre of pine coloured cream. The legs as you swirl the glass are incredible. Treacly, sweet, golden syrup and caramel on the nose atop hints of peach and apricot, orange blossom, sherbet and boozy sherry. Big body, meaty and viscous with a light spritz of carbonation up front and a lengthy rough malt, burnt sugar and sherry warmth to the finish. Plenty of pale stonefruit and caramelised, sharp and savoury fruit mince coming through. It has a lengthy sweetness that compliments the bitter fruit and chunky malts. Light earthiness and hint of new oak settles in. With all that’s going on it works harmoniously together. For 13.2% ABV it drinks of a barley wine of moderate strength. Delectable yet not overly complex - it has mellowed in the past few years. It just works. A lovely barley wine! (50cL, 2012 vintage)

Tasting at Ferris’, vintage 2012, ~4 years old
Cloudy dark amber color, cloudy. The aroma is very corky, the flavor is malty, sweet, for a good body, but overall it’s not aging too well. Warm, alcoholic final.
Nice but old.
