Small sample at the cidery. Pale yellow-gold pour with a bit of fizzy head that dies quickly...dry grassy nose, light tart-dry apple nose, little apparent sugariness...faint touches of sweetness (caramel) in the body, but mostly light tartness, with a drying and somewhat mineralic finish; moderate to strong acidity...carbonation level moderate, body light but not watery. Pretty decent easy-drinking cider but certainly not one of the more interesting productions of this cidery. I think this may have been the first thing I tried from these guys, and one of the first alcoholic ciders I ever had in fact; surprised I never rated it before. On tap at Schilling, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out medium sweet apples, some apple core and a touch of caramel. Flavour tastes like ripe apple cores, with medium sweetness and some prominent pithy notes. Apple cores galore - this works pretty well. Nice one. Bottle @ The Festival 2014. Clear pale yellow pour with white foam and a decent amount of carbonation. Has a bit of a vanilla and sweet fruit nose to it good acidity, though. Hints of citrus zest and yeast, too. Flavor is well balanced, but maybe a bit more on the acidic side than I would have liked. Still, it’s a pleasant cider. Greenish yellow gold pour with a small, quickly fading clear layer of bubbles. Aroma is tart apple, fruity and light doughy yeast, a hint of booziness and wax lips candy. Flavor is sweet apple up front, some nice sweet floral notes, a little tart apple then some dusty minerality, hints of berry fruit and light oily booziness to the finish. Light body with a light, but spritzy and blanketing carbonation, juicy then slightly dry feel. Good stuff overall, maybe a little messy with the booziness and doughy yeast, but still quite enjoyable. The aroma is cool, apple-y, a little boozy, some clay… no spoiled meat.
Flavor is lightly sweet, a touch too boozy as well. It tastes a little like cheap white wine… which I’m not one to criticize but it’s what Charles Shaw is for… amIrite? It’s got a decent apple flavor and finishes dry. It’s got some good minerallity.
