COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not your typical "Jelly of the Month Club" beer. Dark roasted malt and bittersweet cocoa and coffee flavor and aroma burst from this pitch black milk stout. The full body and sweetness are derived from the addition of lactose (aka milk sugar) which is not fermentable by beer yeast. A healthy dose of English Kent Goldings hops provides a counterpoint to this ales rich and complex maltiness.

A bit tangy for mine but not this is at fault levels. Some roast and chocolate but the aforementioned does dominate. No doubt pleasant but not the softness I was expecting. (HKD39 @ Brewdog HK)

16oz can for $3.00 at City View. Opaque brown-black body. Thin, oily beige head. Really smooth and sweet. Pretty much nails it, this is certainly a solid example of the style. Drinks pretty clean, leaning more into the lactose than the deeper dark malts. Almost over-the-top with the lactose at times, Good stuff.

This beer pours a Nice dark, dark brown with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is strong and has a slight licorice smell. Nice chocolatey flavor with very slight bitterness but an overall malty sweetness. A great beer!

Black colored, small frothy non lasting tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, some roasted malt, dried fruits, lactose. Taste is medium+ sweet milky chocolate, roasted malt, some dark chocolate, medium- roasty bitterness, some lactose, sweet finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, milky. A bit too sweet for my liking. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)
