COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not your typical "Jelly of the Month Club" beer. Dark roasted malt and bittersweet cocoa and coffee flavor and aroma burst from this pitch black milk stout. The full body and sweetness are derived from the addition of lactose (aka milk sugar) which is not fermentable by beer yeast. A healthy dose of English Kent Goldings hops provides a counterpoint to this ales rich and complex maltiness.

Draft. Deep brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor follows with some light residual sweetness and a light mineral quality in the finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Solid except for the slight mineral taste.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2017 Can. Very dark with ample tan head. Smells a little chocolatey bit also woody, bready, and citric and maybe mapley. Flavor is a little chocolatey and a little earthy. Creamy.

Pint can. Dark brown with a big two toned tan head. More carbonation rises than is typical. A nice milk chocolate aroma also has some malt balls. It is quite sweet with earth galore. A little roastiness and some toast, too. Feel is syrupy. Very easy drinking.

Sampled from tap at Craftbeer Corner Coeln. Clear, dark reddish brown to black with a beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of milk chocolate, nougat, hazelnut and some vanilla. Very sweet, moderately roasty-malty taste of milk chocolate, sweet coffee, hazelnut and some vanilla, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly earthy-dry finish. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Maybe even too sweet, but still very tasty!

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pint can.

Pint can no date stamp. Deep brown-black body has a moonscape disc of foam on top. Aroma is milk chocolate, raisin, espresso and a bit of blackberry. Front tastes of dark toffee, berries and coffee with cream. Later turns veer towards charred wood, chocolate malted milk balls and some prickly green herb. Mildly smoky chocolate mint lingers in the long finish. Medium-plus body has smooth low-medium carbonation and a very drinkable balance. Fifth brew Ive had from this brewery and four of them have been quite impressive.

Black with brown head. Aroma of Mocha and malt. Sweet, malty with some dying affect from the dark roasted malts. Surprisingly short malty finish. Could use some more aggressive roasted grain character. Nice overall.
