Against the Grain’s answer to light beers. This session style IPA is all about the hops, but not about the bitterness. We started with the malt base of pale ale, Vienna and wheat, then American hops were employed only late in the boil and post fermentation. The result is a pleasant hop aroma and flavor without the drying bitterness and alcohol.

On tap at Craft Beer Co. Whoa, I had no idea when trying this that it was so low in ABV! Very fulsome and flavorful IPA, and it’s impressive that AtG was able to coax so much character. Semi-hazy golden pour, bright and well carbonated. Tons of bitter citrus in the nose, some malt and grain to taste and an overall grassy, citric quality. Very nice and definitely a killer session brew.

Keg at CBI, London on 12th January 2013. Hazy amber with thin white head and lacing bands. Citric hoppy aroma. Tangy citrus zing in-mouth coupled with a malty core. Lemony citrus lingering in a shortish finish. Lively mouthfeel and a lightish body make for easy drinking.

Half, 3.5% abv, keg at Craft Beer Co Brixton. Shared with Finn. Hazy golden body. Small, but lasting white head, faint lacing. Fresh floral hops to the nose. Bitter citrus fruits in flavour. Sharp, but rather short-lived, semi-dry, bitter ending. Refreshing drink with session qualities (London, 04.11.2012).

On tap at CBC, London. It pours hazy orange with a nice soapy off-white head. Aroma is grassy and hoppy, light flowery with peaches as well. Taste is similar: little grassy hoppy bitterness surrounded by an intense fruity sweetish peach flavor. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Lasting bitter finish. Overall, sessionable and fully packed with taste, great beer.
