UPDATED: MAR 7, 2016 I snapped into one of these beers and it was good. Nothing spectacular but good. alexsdad06 (11223) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JAN 3, 2014
Growler shared by Tmoney99 (2012). Pours a clear amber color with a small bubbly white head. The aroma and flavor have some meaty smoke character, hints of plastic/band aid type notes (more on the nose), some sweet malt, bready notes, a bit thin and watery with mild bitterness to the finish. Tap at Trion Tavern:
Pours a surprising dark copper....with an off-white head.
Scent is lightly smoky, caramel.
Taste is again, lightly smoked...more campfire than meaty...rather barn-ish, an earthiness.
Great to whet the smoke appetite with....just enough when you don’t want overwhelmed by the style.
A very, very good beer. crossovert (14128) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2012
Don’t really see the point of the sorghum. This one is nice, very bacony and campfirey in the scent. good smoke on the palate, not too sweet. b3shine (9257) - Indiana, USA - MAY 24, 2012
Growler to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks good; copper with nice lacing. Smells decent...for a smoked beer. Tastes alright; nothing special. Average mouthfeel. Just not my style.

On tap at local option. Pours a clear amber orange with a clean white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is smokey with a note of bacon and cured meats. Flavor starts with a bread note but is quickly taken over Nya light smoked meat note. zebra (2384) - Illinois, USA - MAY 18, 2012

Winding down the evening I moved on to this gem of a smoked beer. Every once in a while I get a craving for them. This one is decent but falls right in the middle of the spectrum. Neither hammy or ashy it is on the fence about what impression it wants to form.
Aroma / Appearance - The coppery red body glows a little like a sackful of polished pennies in the sun. Long clear legs crawl sideways. The nose is like the smell of burnouts done in a brand new car - plasticky and rubbery. Liquid bacon lurks in the background but is not as strong.
Flavor / Palate - The creamy chewy mouthfeel melts in the mouth. Like the middle of a smoky truffle it warms the palate. This is as close as it gets to the halfway point of the smoked spectrum. I was expecting a bit more but it gets the job done well enough.
Tap (growler). Light apple and barnyard malt aroma. Hazy amber color with small head. Lightly smoky strong barnyard barley malt flavor, Not your typical smoked beer - smells like I’m back in a little German farm village.
