My final sample before a full pint was this top notch IPA. Midwestern breweries are cranking out IPAs by the dozens so it would be hard for me to say I’d drink it again. However if you are in the area while it is still on tap be sure to order some yourself.
Aroma / Appearance - The transparent bronze body is full of life. A wiry white head provides nice contrast. Grass, hay, and dandelions provide an herbal touch. It is almost as if a fall harvest was gathered into a keg.
Flavor / Palate - The chewy mouthfeel hangs on the tongue. Crawling towards the back of the throat it hits home with grass, mulch, and rye. Cut hay drying in the fields brightens the throat. A filling and creamy IPA is good enough to drink even in a crowded field.
Draft @ ATG. Clear golden amber with a small white head. Aroma is new to me, kind of the grape’like character of Nelson hops mixed with a spicy/herbal English hop, light toast malt as well. Flavor is bitter up front with some light malt sweetness and no alcohol taste. Medium body with a clean, bitter finish. Very interesting beer, I’d like to try some more beers that use Topaz hops. Aroma of basic cereal/light caramel malts and herbal/floral hop presence. Appearance is bright gold with foamy white head. Flavor is largely dominated by the Topaz hop characters, which is an interesting mix of herbal/floral notes. Palate is bubbly. An interesting IPA.
