Noticeable spelt, it is bready, earthy, musty, very grain-focused with a nice crisp finish. Brigadier (3750) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - APR 28, 2013

This was a special tap in Bloomington with one of my favorite breweries involved. Anything that has Against the Grain’s participation gets my seal of approval. This is an all around winner that I hope makes it beyond the area between Indianapolis and Louisville.
Aroma / Appearance - The golden base is cloudy with a deep and mysterious presence. The white fringe of head is clean like pristine snow. Musty books, fruit, and warm oatmeal grains blend into a very inviting bouquet.
Flavor / Palate - The sweet texture coats the tongue after just a few sips. The dry creaminess of a saison is accented in the finish. Rye and peaches combine to make me wish I’d ordered another. Still, with the selection at The Tap there were plenty of other choices just as good.
On tap at AtG.
Slightly cloudy dark honey-colored pour with a fine white head. Nice amount of lacing.
Nose is bright and fruity (yeast) with some citrus hop notes.
Flavor is lemony, citrusy hop and a fairly substantial caramel malt backbone to balance. A very dry, though not astringent finish.
Medium mouthfeel. Very nice carbonation level.
A really nice, dry, and pleasingly hoppy Saison. Really good stuff from my favorite brewer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy light brown with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet flowers, lemon, melon rind, perfume. Flavor of sweet fruits and floral hops with bitterness, peppery spices, and caramel malt in the finish. An interesting saison- it has a slight funk to it as well as bitter hopping and spices. Very tasty, dry, and refreshing.

Sampler at the brewpub. Sweet, honeylike flavor, some orange/citrus, not much hop, kind of dry/bitter with a good bit of carbonation. Smooth & easy to drink, but not a whole lot here.

had as part of the sampler. a yellowish color with white head. nice crisp clean aroma and flavor. i thought it would have been a bit hoppier but then the flavor of a saison kicked in and i thought no need for hops i like the way it flows. very nice flavor slightly fruity, well balanced. Chalice at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is woody and yeasty, not a whole lot of pungent hops. It’s cheesy with a little funk. The flavor has a reasonable bite, finish is grassy and yeasty. Mild notes of bubblegum creep into the picture. Gets a little sticky after awhile. Decent. shrubber85 (11618) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 6, 2013
Draft. Musty lemon and grainy wheat malt aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with large head. Musty sweet lemon malt flavor. Moderately bitter herbal finish. Very nice. Glad that Spelt has made it to the US - really enjoy the flavor. BelgianBeerGal (4156) - Panama City, Florida, USA - APR 6, 2013
Draft at Main location. I know absolutely nothing about spelt but this was a fairly straight-forward saison. Well made, earthy, and true to type. ContemplateBeer (2097) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 6, 2013
Aroma of moderate cheesecloth, white grape, light honey and floral notes. Appearance is translucent royal gold with sticky white head. Flavor is cheesy, herbal, white-grapey with a very dry finish. Palate is medium, creamy and very soft. Well done.
