After the Applebocq and the Redbocq, the Brasserie du Bocq is pleased to announce the birth of the Agrumbocq … The idea for the Agrumbocq arose first of all in the mind of our master brewer. Once again, the starting point is our white beer made by top fermentation to which mandarin juice and the natural aromas of grapefruit and lime are added. Its cloudy appearance, its natural pink grapefruit colour, its fine slightly pinkish head and its pleasantly fruity fragrance are certainly going to delight the most delicate palates. A perfect balance is achieved through the sweet and acid taste of the citrus fruit and the slight bitterness that it releases. It is defined as a very light and refreshing beer. You are advised to drink it very cool. It is ideal after sport! It has barely 3% alcohol volume. The Agrumbocq is currently available in kegs and 25-cl bottles.

These blends of beers has never really been a big hit for me, but Agrumbocq has nevertheless caused me to get a little excited. Its basic is a witbier but its character of wheat beer has been hidden. Instead you get a beer with good aromas of tangerine and citrus. In the mouth it becomes very bubbly and fresh and has nice flavor of mandarin without becoming too sweet and sickly. It is refreshing and tasty and it can certainly be used as an alternative to cider or aperitif. You can also just relax with a cold glass of Agrumbocq in the summer heat.

At Zwevegem Beerfestival. Only wrote down scores for the last beers I tasted.

Zeer lekker verfrissend biertje voor in de zomer te drinken, je drinkt precies limonade.

Lemonade-like beer based on Blanche de Namur and launched when the trend of sweet fruitbeers based on witbier was at its peak. This one tried to be different by combining (artificial extracts of) three fruits, mandarine, lime and grapefruit. Creamy, snow-white head, colour a cloudy, orangey yellow. Nose gets lots of ascorbic acid, as in lemonade, lemon juice from a bottle, sweetened industrial orange juice, drowning the timid hints of wheat and coriander showing through from the base beer. Taste is more of the same, as expected, a battle between lemonade and witbier strongly in favour of the first; lots of lemonade-like ascorbic acid, some soft maltiness, and lots of sugary sweetness, accompanying the whole palate till the finish and leaving a sticky impression. These rather abominable hybrids between lemonade and witbier seem to have passed their heyday now, and I for one will not miss them one bit.

This 250mL pour is a bargain at $8.2076 USD a pour in China, all in the name of rating beer. You’re welcome. Thanks government, and you are welcome for the VAT. Btw, what value did you add? Oh, I forgot. This "beer" is at least hazy, and yellow. The lacing is faint, the head weak, the aroma tropical if not chemical, and the flavor like sugar-infused lime/lemon-aide. Yes, help me. Its altogether tropical, has nothing to do with Belgium, not-withstanding-giving-a-damn-where-it’s-supposed and is something that take copious consumption to "add-any-value" on some worldwide beach on which you might find yourself.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy pale light yellow color, small quickly diminishing off - white head. Very fruity aroma of oranges, grapefruit and slightly tropical fruits. Tastes about the same: very sweet, some fruits as said before. Low body, low to average carbonation.

Nice aroma of tangerine zest. Flavour is of juicy, sweet tangerine. Has a slight aftertaste of saccharin.

Light hazy and pale yellow colour with a fine lasting white head. Fruity, ciric and wheat aroma. Fruity over to the orange/mandaring side in the flavour. Unusual nice spicy notes. Also some wheat and yeast. Very fresh and nice.
[Bottle from Varnaveien Mineralvann in Moss, Norway]
