This Eisbock pours a medium-dark brown body and half an inch of tan head that settles fairly quickly to a ring. The nose is savory and fruity, with an intense aroma of dried mushroom, a touch of soy, prune, dark toast, and quite a nice melanoidin character. The palate is also focused on the dried mushroom, a bit of balsamic flavor (and just a touch of the acidity), dried dark fruits, and lots of toastiness with medium sweetness. The beer is full bodied but not heavy, carbonation is light-medium, and acidity is light but present to provide nice lift. Overall, this is no ordinary Bock. It's rich, dark, and intense with tertiary flavors. There's a lot of oxidation, but it's the kind of savory type I enjoy in aged beers.
Chocolate, malt, cacao black currants in the nose. Somewhat acidic.
Alcohol and chocolate in the mouth. Somewhat acidic. Round with some sweetness and dry finish. andrepintado (3543) - Lisbon, PORTUGAL - APR 7, 2013

330ml bottle - via mjs and rosenberg - thanks!
Woh, super aged aroma, marmite everywhere. Retronasals lovely - a bizarre combination of raisis and marmite. Some nice sourness in the mouth, like an old stock ale, for example. Massivly oxidised taste, papery and Marmite finish. Leaves my teeth tasting of metal, which is a little disconserting. Aged to fuck and back. I guess I would have given this a huge score years ago. rosenbergh (11653) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 6, 2013

Dark brown colour with a small light tan head.
Strong malty aroma. Dark fruits. Raisins. More malt. The flavour is sourness, malt and marmalade.
Sourness is quite disturbing but this is still drinkable.

(Bottle, 0.33 - BBE 05/2006, courtesy of omhper, thanks Per, 20130406) The beer poured dark brown and quite clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, cocoa powder, berries and mild sourness. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. The taste was very oxidised. Flavours were malts, sourness, malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour, malty and bitter. As Per assumed when giving this bottle to me, the beer has oxidised so much that it had gone a bit sour. Still there was enough components left to imagine what the beer was like when it was younger. fonefan (49996) - VestJylland, DENMARK - OCT 14, 2012
