Pours a clear amber brown on tap with thin ring of off-white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of diacytel again, buttery and malty. Taste is more toward the noble earthy hop and malty toastiness, again diacytel is covered. Meh, one of the better ones. chinchill (5450) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 13, 2016
On tap at the brewery.
Red-brown body with a somewhat weak head.
Light aroma with a bit more malt than hops.
Flavor: earthy hops and roasted grains: not enough malts of style.
Feel: Medium body with overly light carbonation.
Overall: disappointing. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 6, 2009
Clear amber, with small tan head. Diacetyl aroma is off-putting but there is some nuttiness beneath. Soft carbonation. Major butter bomb and way too sweet too. Nutty, and has either seen better days or is not living up to its potential. goldtwins (4319) - Nesconset, New York, USA - JAN 10, 2007
Growler. Poured a hazy dark orange copper color with a small off-white head. The aroma was mildly hoppy with notes of oranges and some citrus with a sweet candy malt underneath. Malty cereal flavor with some citrus and sweet fruit. There was a hint of tartness on the finish. aracauna (3734) - Georgia, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Nicely malty. Very toasty malt. Moderate hop bitterness to balance. Very good red ale.

Pint at the brewpub. Looks pretty darn red without any head formation. This is malt leaning ale with flavors of caramel and biscuits, maybe just a grassy note here and there. Very inoffensive even for this style. I don’t have much to say about it.
On tap at Aiken Brewing Company. Pours a copper color with white head. Caramel, malty aromas. Caramel, slight piney hops, malty flavors. Pretty straight forward red. Nothing exciting. beernovice39 (3269) - Idaho, USA - JUN 9, 2010
On tap at Aiken Brewing. A clear amber pour with off white head. Malty scent. Taste was balanced with a dry finish. Nice harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - APR 8, 2004
This is one of those beers that has the potential to be great, but just slips and falls by the way side. This is just lacking a few key ingredients. It really needs a strong malt character to back up the flavor. Just too light for my taste.
