Poured into a mug, the appearance was a ruddy golden orange sort of muddy color. Thin white foamy head. Moderate lace.
The aroma had some smoke, apples, soft caramel malts and then some breadiness.
The flavor had a sweet smokiness to it, really nice blend. Malts are clean and full with a nice smooth aftertaste rolling into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. Smooth smoky silkiness clings appropriately to the ABV and feels very well done along my tongue.
Overall, holy cow, what a damn good smoked beer. I never would have thought! Wish I could get this on a daily basis. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Nose of moderate salty smoke, caramel apples, some soft sweetness. Pleasant moderate aroma. Pours golden orange nice clarity with a thin head. The flavor starts with a medium salty smoke, moves through some caramel apple, light toast, and more moderate salty smoke. Clean finish. Medium carbonation, good balance. Good stuff.
