Built with lots of chocolate malt and black strap molasses to give this beer backbone. A hint of juniper blends nicely with the chocolate to become a new and unique flavor you can only find at the Alameda Brewhouse. The Porter stands up to the Artichoke, Spinach and Herb Dip as well as the Brewhouse Nachos.

On tap at the brewpub - Pours dark brown with an off-white head. The aroma has porter roast/toast with some light chocolate. It has a medium / light body with semi-soft carbonation. The taste has semi-dry roast and some berry aspect. The finish gets drier and is cocoa heavy. Decent porter.

5.1% ABV, 39IBU Very smoky with lots of molasses, hints of juniper added a nice touch. Hadn’t tried anything like it before.

Hophazard (193) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 14, 2011
Slight smokiness with roasted malt. Black and opaque appearance with a taupe foam. Smoke and roased woodiness quickly give way to an acidic finish. Oily and slick body. A decent porter if you are a fan of the style.

Black with clingy tan head. Coffee aroma. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavors of coffee and mild chocolate. Juniper? Nice smooth toast malt. Finishes coffee bitter.
