Draft at AK BW fest 2016. Dark brown color. Aroma of sourdough brownies. Taste is spiced brownies. Decent. BeerandBlues2 (13594) - Escondido, California, USA - JAN 22, 2016
Draught at GABBF. Pours opaque black with a small, frothy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is chocolate malt, nutmeg, ginger, figs and earthy hops. Flavor is chocolate and coffee malt, light earthy hops and bitterness, nutmeg, licorice and a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Fatehunter (2568) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - DEC 17, 2015
Pours a thin tan head on a black body.
The aroma is Bourbon, wood, milk, vanilla and a little cake.
The taste is roasted malt, milk, mostly sweet but good balance.
The texture is thicker but smooth.
Really enjoyable. Brentv (674) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 11, 2015
From 650 ml bomber. Pours black with a huge bubbly tan head that settles into a dense foam covering that lasts and leaves lots of thick lacing. Big aroma of whiskey and chocolate. Taste is chocolate and whiskey and oak, and a bit of tartness that may be from the tequila barrels. Full mouthfeel. Complex and interesting beer. douglas88 (9420) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 6, 2015
650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark mahogany color with a large light brown head, very thick. A big malty nose with clear whiskey and oak. The flavor is rich rum, whiskey, sour mash, oaky tannins, banana, caramel. There is a deep astringent character from the whiskey I think, something like Jack Daniels. No infection at all. A big beer, mostly barrel. I think the overall package is pretty nice. Good palate. Tasty.

22 ounce bomber from summer secret santa 14. Big carbonation in pour. Chocolate and a a mix of hops and barrel age in nose. Nice. raphael (1267) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 1, 2014
Aromas of coffee, lemon, alcohol. Flavors of sulfur, roast malt, brown sugar, oak. A little drying on the tongue. Generous dark khaki head on impenetrable dark brown. Gription79 (2891) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - MAR 24, 2014
Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. This beer opened with a loud pop and poured with large amounts of head. This beer is off, firm sourness, plastic, rubber notes. Some notes of cherries and wood, the tannins where out of balance. The only thing that I felt was brown ale about this was a nice chocolaty character. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAR 19, 2014
Bottle:   Does seem like a big brown.   Soft barrel aging, cant say its Whiskey, Bourbon, and Rum.   A bit woody, a touch tart, a little woodsy.   Starts out tart, becomes a bit sour.   Really needs to be sweet.   Malty, bready, but that sourness on the backside isn’t all that welcome for a big barrel aged beer.   Perhaps something in the barrels that wasn’t meant to be.   Meh... woody sourness with a bit of some bit bready maltiness.   Some funk happened that I don’t think was intended, which is too bad.
