Bottle. Amber color with small, beige head. Virtually no lacing. Slightly fizzy. Smells of sweet malt and caramel. Malty flavor, smooth all the way. Lingering bitter finish on the front and sweet in the back. Well balanced.
Deep Ruby color with off white head. Aroma with rustic bread, caramel malt, muted sweet herbal notes. Taste is sweet but smooth, not overly cloying. Medium body, a little sticky. tricksta_p (4561) - Steenwijk, NETHERLANDS - JUN 16, 2017
Bottle from a grocery store in Bridgeport, California. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, toffee, with a touch of dried fruits and nuts. Flavour is sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. A bit on the sweet side, but not bad. ContemplateBeer (2089) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUN 1, 2017
Sixer from Jungle Jims; drink by date of 7/9/17. Aroma: Moderate caramel apple with some additional sweetener... candi sugar? Nothing aroma-wise suggestive of hops. Appearance: Transparent copper pour with soft carbonation holding up a foamy tan head that sticks around admirably. Flavor: Strongly sweet toffee/caramel apple with very little to eventually dry things up; the finish lingers with unresolved sweetness. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: I dont enjoy knocking a classic, but this is pretty much a perfect example of a beer that a) Enjoyed success at the inception of craft beer because it actually has flavor, but b) Has long since been surpassed to the point of obsolescence. Im sure they still sell lots of this and are probably unconcerned about my minority opinion, but this really is an old dog. With these criticisms, its not awful with a grilled burger, but is almost unbearably sweet without some balancing savoury dish as an accompaniment. Westy1130 (88) - New York, USA - MAY 17, 2017
First tried on Alaskan Cruise. Typical amber altbier color. Aroma/Taste: Roasted malt, light hops and chestnut. BeerRenter76 (1007) - Texas, USA - MAY 10, 2017
Originally rated on 1/20/2009. A nice amber body with ample carbonation, good lace left on my glass. Flavor was caramel malts with a hint of nuts, slightly sweet finish. Crisp carbonation bite, with not much aftertaste. My first alt beer was pretty decent.

Clean dark amber colour, small white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, grain, toffee, honey. Sweet lightly dry taste, subtle bitterness in finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Very nice. balloonbuffoon (272) - - APR 18, 2017
Draft, 16floz pint. presented a clear copper-amber, with very little head. Buttery caramel nose transcends to highly malty beverage with just enough hops to balance. An okay drinking beer that is firmly medium in body, although a bit syrupy. Pretty bland, I’ve had better alts/amber ales-lagers. hauxe (712) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - APR 15, 2017
Pours amber from the bottle with an off white head. Aroma is caramel. Taste is sweet, lots of caramel, and light red berry undertones. Body stays rather light. Decent if unexciting. lbianchi66 (390) - FRANCE - APR 8, 2017
Robe ambrée et limpide. Arômes caramel. Goût malté et caramel. Légères notes de banane. Texture assez fluide. La carbonatation est fine et moyennement abondante.
Le caramel reste en bouche.
Bonne mais sans complexité. Aggie80 (818) - Michigan, USA - MAR 18, 2017
Dark cola color with an off white head and some lacing. Malty aroma and a rather sweet flavor. Coats the mouth with a malty flavor with just a touch of hop bitterness. I really enjoyed this and could see it being a great one to have on a summer day.
