COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name of this beer style comes from the German word alt meaning old. This refers to the aging that alts undergo since they ferment more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall balance and smoothness.

Bottle. Amber color with small, beige head. Virtually no lacing. Slightly fizzy. Smells of sweet malt and caramel. Malty flavor, smooth all the way. Lingering bitter finish on the front and sweet in the back. Well balanced.

Dark cola color with an off white head and some lacing. Malty aroma and a rather sweet flavor. Coats the mouth with a malty flavor with just a touch of hop bitterness. I really enjoyed this and could see it being a great one to have on a summer day.

One of the classic ambers on the market pours a dark reddish brown with a developed head off off-white foam. Lightly sweet notes of caramel grain and biscuit. Some floral/earthy hops to balance out the sweetness.

Pours a clear reddish Amber. Aroma of syrupy malt sweetness and a biscuity note. Taste is malt-forward with a healthy honey sweetness. Offset nicely with an earthy hoppy note that allows it to finish dry. A little sweet for the style but great from a drinkability standpoint.

Draft to taster at Cincy beerfest 2017 pour light copper with thin ecru head. Nose sweet malt, apple, toffee. Taste similar to nose, more apple than caramel. Moderate grainy malt late to finish.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. For the book. Aroma is caramel, sweet, butterscotch candy, slight hop, malt, toffee. Appearance is amber, light tan head, clear. Taste is grainy, sweet potato, caramel, metallic, but just grain city. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, bready grain aftertaste. Overall, its an Alt alright. But middle of the road for the style.

12 oz bottle shared by ebone1988 for the stupid book. The pour is a darker copper color with a thin ring of cream colored head and a couple spots of lace. The aroma is really interesting. There is a maltiness about it and some fruits, with some caramel and a touch of sweet potato. Its got just a faint bit of metallic on the back end. The flavor is grainy and wet up front. There is a light sweet potato and a bit of light and metallic malt. Theres almost a watered down molasses in there as well. The mouth feel is light and thinly carbonated with a lingeringly sweet and metallic grainy finish. This isnt that great at all.

Bottle. Pours copper with a frothy head. Aromas of sweet malt. Flavors are candied malt, a bit of toffee and bread. Exceedingly smooth. Muted hop presence. This is mainly a sweet, smooth, malty offering. Not bad, but not exceptional.
