COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name of this beer style comes from the German word “alt” meaning “old”. This refers to the aging that alts undergo since they ferment more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall balance and smoothness.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2017 Poured on tap at the SEA TAC airport. Medium white head. Notes of wheat but with a somewhat stale finish. A fine experience but wouldn't necessarily seek it out again.

Unde (1128) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 13, 2017
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2017 Clear amber colour, nice fluffy head on top dissolves rather quickly. Aroma has caramel malts, barley malts, sweet syrup, bread. Taste has barley malts, caramel sweetness and a bit fry after taste. Medium creamy body and high carbonation.

jbruner (5121) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - SEP 6, 2017
Pours a clear golden brown from the bottle with bubbly tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild fruity esters and clean sweet malts. Taste is more to the malty caramel sweetness, but a nice yeasty backbone with just a touch of earthy hop. The epitome of American amber.

kwik-lime (2012) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 20, 2017
Draft at BeerPark in Vegas. Mid-brown pour, quite malty with some nuts and grain but the finish was a bit cloyingly sweet which put me off a bit.

nathanvc (640) - Brugge, BELGIUM - JUL 24, 2017
Bottle from Vons, Las Vegas. Pours hazy dark amber with a minimal, off-white head - some particles in it. The aroma contains malt, caramel, bread, fruits, hops, some nuts. It tastes medium sweet and very light bitter without becoming really hoppy. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Agreeable.

3.6
sawbuck (755) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - JUL 16, 2017
Nice aroma of rich sweet malt, caramel and a hint of molasses. Nice deep orange brown red coloring with a huge tan head. Rich sweetness up front. Roasted malt... on the sweet side. Slightly smokey. Bitterness comes in nicely to balance. Medium mouthfeel, finish is mostly sweet but refreshing. Fresh sample makes the difference.
