COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Much of the history of Hopothermia is lost to the mists of time. We know that the windswept lone brewer dreamt of a Double IPA so bold and packed full of hop flavor that it could keep the wild wolves from the door of his remote cabin. We know he was able to converse with the creatures of the woodsexcept for the bears who slept through the cold winter, and the mink, who were just really super rude. And we know he skillfully crafted a beer that became the stuff of legend.

There are strange brews made where glaciers cascade
By the brewers who know no bounds.
For they stuff in the hops til the temperature drops
And then call for a few more rounds.
In Alaska, it seems, every brewer dreams
of a bold Double IPA.
Hopothermias the beer, in the Last Frontier
That will keep the wild wolves at bay.

A bit one dimensional for a DIPA: from the aroma through the taste and to the finish, it was mostly dry, pine/resin bitterness with a long, bitter finish. The alcohol is pretty well hidden. Overall, the taste was more of a typical NW IPA than a DIPA. But if you want your bitter/hoppy IPA experience with more alcohol, this is your beer.

12 oz pour from chilled bottle into tulip. Orange, hazy, nice foamy head. Nose is bitter, citrus, a little pine, a little resin. Full body, sticky. Taste is mild up front with a strong bitter finish. Pine and resin throughout with undertones of orange. Not quite as complex as I like my DIPAs, but not bad by any stretch

From bottle. Clear Orange pour with a small white head. Very fruity aroma. Taste is less intense and too easy to drink - not as big as expected for an imperial. A bit of caramel and rather dry. Not at all boozy. Medium and slick mouthfeel.

Copper pour with average sized white head. Nose is big with pine and citrus. Flavor has a great pine hop punch with some notes of citrus. Has a little bitterness, but good malt balance.

For a Imperial IPA I dont get any boozy ness. Malty and sweet. If you want a sweeter smoother double this is an good one.

Bomber. Malty nose, pine, oranges, caramel. Glowing orange-amber color with a low, fine head. Sweet, slightly boozy flavor of oranges, biscuits, pine, something like orange sorbet. Nice fruitiness.
