COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Much of the history of Hopothermia is lost to the mists of time. We know that the windswept lone brewer dreamt of a Double IPA so bold and packed full of hop flavor that it could keep the wild wolves from the door of his remote cabin. We know he was able to converse with the creatures of the woods—except for the bears who slept through the cold winter, and the mink, who were just really super rude. And we know he skillfully crafted a beer that became the stuff of legend.

There are strange brews made where glaciers cascade
By the brewers who know no bounds.
For they stuff in the hops ’til the temperature drops
And then call for a few more rounds.
In Alaska, it seems, every brewer dreams
of a bold Double IPA.
Hopothermia’s the beer, in the Last Frontier
That will keep the wild wolves at bay.

On tap @ Uber. Pours bright golden with thick creamy head. Aroma is juicy floral hops. Taste is kinda flat piney and floral bitter hops. None of those great citrus notes in the aroma come through in the taste at all - weird! Thin body to stand up to all those hops. It’s been a while but I remember liking their Pilot series DIPA better than this. Something just a bit off here.

Aroma is pine, fruit and big sweetness. The flavor is fruit/berries, piney hops, malts and a sweet/spicy/alcoholic finish.

Clear copper pour with a two finger, off white head. Aroma of bitter pine, dankness, orange slice candy, caramel and bread, a hint of biscuits and planty hops. Flavor is caramel, wood, bread, toffee, lots of booze, light dankness, licorice, dried leaves, light berry notes and sweet and bitter citrus. Medium body, medium, sharp carbonation, oddly strong boozy heat for 8.5% and off dry finish. This is a weird one, it’s a tiny bit of a mess.

Very fresh sample. Nice aroma of sweet bread, caramel, and some booze. Pine in there as well. Beautiful orange amber with a huge tan head. Sweet caramel up front. Quickly laced with deep pine resin with medium bitterness. Nice balance on this beer. Medium mouth feel with a pine laced bitter finish and a touch of warming from Alcohol. Nice an boozy in a good way. Solid.

Clear amber/copper. Nice lace and light creamy head. Nice aroma, not strong but significant. Not neccessarly hoppy either. Its minty with fresh maltyness and crisp air. TAste is kinda good mixed with mediocre. Pronounced bitter. Drinks well for a double, yet its drinkable/sipable and cleanish. something about this gives it marks down for a double. Good to average. I love Alaska, I worked in the Dutch Harbor cannary around 1999. Beautiful.

Might've had 10mg before I walked in here. Should be an interesting time. Pretty hoppy and heavy, not bad -

Bottle BEST BY 072717. Sweet nose fills the room with citrus, hops, bright candy, touch resin, drop of medicine, something like vanilla/cake frosting. Pour very slightly hazy orange-amber but bright and fully-carbonated, large and rocky beige head. Taste medium-bitter but loaded with floral hop juice, strong alcohol that warms and eventually singes, sugar, citrus, candy. Bit of resin, bit of earth, clean bitterness a bit breadier but low-key lasts in the aftertaste. Dense and full, creamy-smooth throughout, fat body but not heavy, with wonderful accents coming up over time -- peach and especially mango to take me by surprise by the end. Strong but slightly indistinct malt with decent depth. A different kind of IPA, leans rather toward the Old Ale feel of class and permanence (though with an obviously different flavor profile). Pours a darker amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is floral hops with caramel malts and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is all floral hops up front. Finishes with a sweetness from the malts and a slight warming.

12 ounce bottle. Not sure why this text is italicized? Clear dark amber, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of pine, candied citrus, lemon, pale malt. The taste is grapefruit, lemon, pine, pale malt. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.
