COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In early 2014 Alaskan re-formulated their IPA as Icy Bay IPA

The very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing, crisp finish is achieved by dry hopping. The fruity, citrusy aroma is a nice complement with grilled prawns and spicy foods.

12oz into a glass in Vegas. Pours a heavy bronzed sunshine. Aroma is piney, citrus, ripe grapefruit, grapes, grass and a small amount of nectar. Taste is very bitter, no real hop smack to get down with, more of a clean ale feeling that a heady ipa from Alaska. Frontal crispness of the hops does rise above in this brew, very clean cut and mellow for an ipa. Drinkability is soft, easy going and fresh to the palate, but i wish there was more of a hop presence in this one, hardly the bite i look for in an ipa. But definately not a bad choice.

Pint from draft at Lucky Strike Belmar. Well, this is one of the most predictable American IPA’s I’ve had in a while. This could pass for a Sierra Nevada product, and I mean that as a compliment. It’s very clean and balanced with classic American flavors of bready malts and piney hops. The nose lets on a little citrus, like grapefruit and distinct evergreen notes. This is a beer that I would always enjoy having as a faithful standby.

Appearance: super clear golden color, pours with a very large beige head, head settles into a medium head with nice density Aroma: kind of faint, grass, pine, citrus, hints of malt Taste: grass, pine, bitterness especially on the finish, Palate: leaves a strong bitter aftertaste, moderate to light mouthfeel, Overall: not bad but nothing that special either, not enough hop character besides the bitterness, faint aroma, ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a golden color with a decent head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of citrus, malt, bit of caramel sweetness and grassy. Taste of citrus, malt sweetness and a bit of grain. Nice bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body, crip and refreshing. Nicely balanced. Pleasant beer, goes well with spicy seafood.

An ok IPA, it has that classic IPA taste. However, it has a light body and a simple taste, but a rather bitter finish.

Best by 14FEB12 A: golden, finger of white foam sticks around as a thick quilt. excellent clarity and spotty lace. (4) s: Resiny and piny hops with a lighter malt profile. (3) T: Pine and grapefruit rinds, some resin. soft bittering and sweet, biscuity malt. (3.5) M: medium bodied with moderate carb, semi dry finish. (3) O: better when fresh than elder. Decent IPA. (3) Best by 16DEC11 A: golden with a finger of white soap suds. These fall to a broken sheet of the same. Spotty lace and brilliant clarity. (4) S: Almost a helles like malt profile with sweet wisps of vanilla. Grassy and piny hops over the top. Substandard for nose on an IPA (2) T: Malt is forward and again, a bit sweet. The hops are bitter and grassy with some hints of resin. Simple. (3) M: Thin with hi carb and wet finish. (3) O: A middle of the road IPA. I like to drink it when I’m poor; at $2.50/bomber, it’s hard to pass up. (3) Serving type: bottle 12-20-2011

Wittales (884) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DEC 4, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2013 Appearance was clear gold with diminishing creamy white 1/2 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are citrus fruits and slight pale, crystal malts, no alcohol. Taste was mild sweet backbone, tangerine, orange, grapefruit and pine with soft yeasts. Palate was soft smooth tight CO2 with medium body, then soft fruity lasting bitterness. A good mild English style IPA.

12oz bottle pours pale amber color without much head. Mild hop flavors that are more like an APA.

Poured a clear golden amber colour with a one- to two-finger off white foamy head that retained OK and laced well. Carbonation low. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus (lemon, grapefruit) with a trace of sweet caramel malt. Taste with mild hops bitterness, citrus and a trace of malt. Medium body. Crisp, clean, dry, with a long bitter finish.

BeerInHeaven (500) - Brillion, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 22, 2013
pours hazy gold with a thickish off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is slightly floral and sweet, indescript candy. Taste is crisp and bright. Not particularly bitter or super hoppy, but pleasant. Nice notes of the hops on the finish and nasal linger. A clean, enjoyable brew!
