Originally rated on 1/26/09. This barleywine was a bit of a let down, the alcohol was too overbearing in the flavor department, overshadowing the faint floral hops. Mouthfeel was nice and creamy, and it had a decent finish. Overall it was o.k. and i wouldnt mind trying it again. jackl (8555) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 15, 2017
Bottle sample @ ABR 2016. Dark reddish pour with a small head. Nose is fairly nutty. Stewed grain and pastry. A hint of smoked wood. Flavor has some earthy roasted grain. Hot and nutty. Chewy malt abounds. Mellow plum and caramel. Full body, a real sipper. Nice. SinH4 (6566) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - JAN 17, 2017
2013 Bottle, thanks luttonm! Ruby color with small tan ring. Aroma is slightly oxidized, orange juice toffee, caramel malts, figs and raisins, a bit oxidized. Taste is again, orange juice, toffee, again a bit oxidized. Sirupy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Slightly oxidized finish. Nice stuff. luttonm (6957) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 15, 2017
Bottle in Seattle. 2013 bottle. Found at Costco last year. Dark malty red body, thin ring of white foam. Rich malty body, spicy American barleywine character. Deep, cherry fruit character starting with the aroma. Rich body, alcohol spice. Sweet, mild body for the alcohol weight. Smooth vanilla, velvety body. A touch of bitterness at finish. Nice beer, impressive. zoucrew102 (2236) - - JUL 19, 2016
Bomber, 2013 vintage. Boozy aroma with rich dark fruit, caramel, a bit of nuttiness and some hoppiness. Pours dark caramel colored with a thin tan head that has some retention and good lacing. Starts with sweet dark fruit and caramel malt flavors with a rich body. Finishes dry with a bit of nuttiness as well as some hops and warming booziness. Nice American barleywine.

(2007 bottle) Deep umber, mahogany colored liquid. Small head of light tan bubbles. Mild dark fruit, toasted malt, caramel, oak, and hearty sherry aromas. Fully, lightly oily feel. Roasted pecans and almonds drenched in a fresh caramel glaze. Hints of dried fruit. Simple, yet it still makes you step back and think about it. A really nice sipping winter brew. I think this bottle may take me a good hour or two to finish. 5/10

2011 bottle thanks to Tom. Pours a hazy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is candy sugar, caramel, toffee. Medium mouth, similar flavors to nose, boozy finish, very nice. _angst_ (5009) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 23, 2015
Bottle shared @ The RBScSG in Gothenburg. Pours hazy caramel brown with a small goldenish offwhite head that leaves some sparse spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty, tiny herbal and slightly earthy with caramel, toffee, sweet dark bread, biscuits, moist grass, pine needles, moist soil, grapefruit rinds and lemon peal. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty, herbal and earthy. Mouthfeel is round, tiny viscous, tiny astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, toffee, biscuits, whole grapefruit, moist grass, pine needles, resinous wood, orange peal and lemon peal. Spot on US barley wine. Solid stuff!
