Bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a lasting creamy beige head. Hoppy aroma with a strong caramel backbone and notes of grapefruit, lime, orange and pine. Flavour is very similar to the aroma altough the malt profile is a little more pronounced imparting hints of nuts and wood as well as caramel. Mouthfeel is slick and oily with moderate carbonation and a lingering, mildly bitter finish. Nice IIPA although oddly restrained for the style, almost muted. Pleasant and very easy to drink though. jazz88 (2683) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 21, 2011
Bottle. A murky reddish brown color with a foamy off-white head. A strong fruity aroma with a laced pine finish. Smooth on the palate with a wet bitter finish and a lingering grapefruit, mango, caramel and bubble gum finish. bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - SEP 20, 2011
(22oz bottle) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, caramel, pine, florals, and resin. Flavor of caramel, citrus, tangerine, and light pine. bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - SEP 17, 2011
Drank the whole bottle pretty easily by myself, though that is not saying that this was a standout IIPA, hops don’t standout enough in aroma or taste to get more points, still I could drink this very easily. killjoy966 (677) - Washington, USA - SEP 2, 2011
22 oz. from Chuck’s. Smells interesting. Bread and biscuits. Flavor does not impress. Mild grainy flavor up front and then a moderate bitterness accompanied by some slightly sour notes in the finish. A-meh-zing.

Not a very impressive effort. I find the beer to be too bread forward with th bitterness only coming through in the finish. It has good carbonation, however; I do prefer the IPA/DIPA with the tighter smaller bubbles that can sort of coat the tongue Ulfada (257) - North Carolina, USA - AUG 8, 2011
Pours a dark amber with a tan head. Not a very aromatic brew. Flavor is c-hop all the way with some nice bitterness at the end. Malt is a little thick for my tastes. All in all a decent imperial IPA if a bit on the average side. bigskymind (4) - Solvang, California, USA - AUG 6, 2011 does not count
I wanted a little more from this beer than it delivered in the end, but all in all a solid effort by Alaskan. Head was a bit weak, as was the lacing and head retention. Grapefruit and passionfruit nose, nice weight on the palate and a nice balance of citrusy hop notes, substantial malt profile and lingering orange peel bitterness. Tasted from a bomber in a tulip glass.

Standard overly malty imperial IPA. Too sweet and malty tasting. Hops dont shine through very well. Light citrus and pine notes dont balance out the bready/caramel malty sweetness. Below average for the style. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - AUG 4, 2011
Bottle courtesy of reynolds314, not to much on nose, more malts on nose than a typical ipa. Mostly light piney hops. But but they are on the west coast. Actually tastes a lot like green flash imperial ipa.
