3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The pour is a clear mahogany color with a moderately full, cream-colored, pillowy, creamy head which is somewhat lasting and leaves thick lace. The nose has toasty and biscuity malts underneath, spicy hops, some resinous pine, light floral, and some ruby red grapefruit. The flavor is similar with more hops than the nose led on; very resinous and spicy, still the grapefruit notes, a fresh herb note developing, and subtle toast malts. The palate is nice for the style with a more than medium body, nearly lively carbonation, and a velvety, oily mouthfeel. The finish is mostly bitter and resinous with some fresh basil notes, light grapefruit, and a toasty note left on the tongue. The bitterness is just over moderate and the acidity is low to moderate. A pretty decent imperial APA-type beer; assertive but balanced bitterness, nice underlying malts, and hop flavor complexity. Nothing flashy, not over the top but very well built and drinkable. Alaskan small batch beers are usually quite good, and this was no different.
bottle - Deep red pour, tan head, aroma of caramel malt and floral hops. It tastes of caramel malt and assertive, citrus tinged hops bitterness. Quite good. Drake (14059) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 27, 2017
12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Brookfield. Clear copper, moderate foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, caramel, pine, a bit of lemon. The taste is toffee, caramel, pine, lemon. Medium bodied, juicy. Solid, decent. thedm (6308) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 13, 2016
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent red brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a malty aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of Irish red malt and hops. A decent one that I would consider drinking again. kathouse (1930) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JUL 31, 2016
Deep red in color. I think the hibiscus comment is the most appropriate for the aroma on this beer. Very floral with only hints at caramel or other malts. Body is medium/thin and the finish lacks depth. bpreo (2902) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - NOV 8, 2015
A good beer. Nice and strong. I sampled it against two others, a Brown, and an IPA. I went with the IPA for the growler.

Floral aroma. Color is ruby. Taste is caramel dipped in potpourri. Probably the most floral beer I?ve tasted. runaway (98) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 11, 2015
12 oz bomber pours a reddish orange amber color with a dense caramel-cream colored head. Aroma is of pine, grass, caramel toffee. Taste is floral caramel with a piney juniper undertone and a long spicy finish. The alcohol is well balanced and the beer is not too dry or astringent in the finish. mstrcrwly (1000) - New York, USA - OCT 3, 2015

22oz bottle in Seattle. Dark grainy, vinous brown. Small soapy head. Deep caramel and dense pine hop, rich and tasty. Sparkling body, dense caramel and fudge. Hops are dense and alcohol fueled. Rich, lovely tasting beer. Heavy, but a nice treat.
