COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alaskan Raspberry Wheat is an American-style Wheat Ale that highlights the bright flavors and inviting aroma of more than 3,000 pounds of real raspberries added during fermentation. Years of local demand through Alaskan’s Rough Draft program of draft-only releases and a Silver medal from the 2008 Great American Beer Festival make Alaskan Raspberry Wheat the perfect brew to launch the Alaskan Pilot Series.

Pours a reddish-orange color with small head, that dissipates quickly. Strong aroma of raspberries and wheat. Flavor is dominated by the raspberries, with a bitter wheat undercurrent. Not particularly sweet, but an interesting combination of flavors. Mouthfeel a bit on the thin side. Glad I gave it a try, though I’m not sure I’d want another.

Bottle at backyard fire, reddish amber beer, slightly pink foam dissapeared. Aroma is berries and malt. Taste is raspberries, malt, peach pit and black pepper. Palate is light, carbonation average. I wanted this to be worse than it is, but it’s actually a decent fruit beer.

On sale, likely a little past its prime. Yeasty and wheat up front, a touch dusty, with light tart raspberry. Not bad, but glad I never paid the premium price tag either.
