Draft @ Café Amsterdam; clear amber with creamy off-white head; lovely light creamy smoke, caramel and nutty aromas; light and crisp with sweet malts mixed with the alder smoke; drinks clean and smooth with mild creaminess and bone dry finish; I’m really digging smoked lagers like this lately; smoke overall is on the light side and flavor profile is anything but complex, but I found this is an easy going smoked that is quite quaffable bvc (1242) - Washington, USA - JAN 19, 2010
Draft at Cafe Amsterdamn. Pours crystal clear dark golden with a copper tint and a small but tightly carbonated white head. Aroma is nicely smoked with an alder smoke wrapped around really light cracker malt that also lets some faint grassy aromas come throught. Really pretty clean but enough smoke to get me excited. Mouth feel is a little thin and not overly carbonated but what carb is there has some sharpness to it. The smoke on the nose isn’t as big as the nose may suggest. Slightly sweet grassy hay and the malt is light but crisp and noticable. As Eric points out in the previous rating, this is pretty much a lite rauchbier...and I’d happily buy 6 packs of this. On tap. Clear amber/light brown with a thick off white head. Sweet smokey aroma with some bready scents. The flavor is bread, sweet malt and a smokey bitterness. Medium body and an active carbonation. This is a well balanced smoked beer, I could drink a lot of this stuff. ***Don’t know who deleted this beer and put my rating into the Alaskan Smoked Porter, but this is a different beer***
