COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

Train beer, courtesy of Shane. Very dark, cola brown. Film of tan head. Nose has savoury smoke. Ripe, dark berry fruits. Some woody notes. Taste is soft, smoky sweet. Some dryness. Smooth and full mouthfeel. Smoky sweet finish, with a light, vinous bitterness.

Quite standard for a smoked porter but at the same time very balanced and incredibly well done.

Bottle @ home, Cellared 2012 vintage - bought 2012. Aroma is smoky with delicate vanilla notes, chocolate, leather, licorice, tobacco, dark fruits. Vinous notes in perfect balance. Palate is smooth with medium carbonation. Nice duration. Flavors of smoke, leather, licorice, milk chocolate, vanilla, plums, wood. Finish is dry with lingering leather belt, peat sweet plums and salt licorice. Is just getting better...

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black color, tan head. Very nice smell of tobacco, smoked plums and bacon, which is however not present in aroma. Aroma is smoked, but slightly bland and watery. Not bad, but not great either.

Emelie (111) - Örebro, SWEDEN - MAY 7, 2017
Doft: kraftig rökdoft, sherry, metall, salami, ek. Smak: ekrökig först sen chark, aningen coca-cola men mer besk än söt, aningen citron.

En helt fin øl der smager tilpas af røg, ikke for meget, men det passer ikke helt porteren

3.3
RaijinSen (384) - POLAND - MAY 2, 2017
Pours deep dark colour with a decent, tan head. Aroma of smoke that tends to revolve around peated notes somewhat, soy sauce, a touch of chocolate - not bad but with more intensity expected. The taste brings the same notes packed in a concoction suffering from a body deficiency syndrome. The beer is quite allright but it definitely doesn’t live up to expectations.
