[Vintage 2003] A black beer with a chocolate brown collapsing head. The aroma is smoked yet sweet with notes of tar and blubber. The flavor is sour malty with notes of wood and only slightly smoked. But the alcohol runs over the tongue even though the mouthfeel is thin yet soft. joergen (29216) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 4, 2005

Bottled (should have been rating #2000, but due to miscalculation at SBWF, it became #1999). Dark brown opaque colour, minor brown head, which quickly disappear into random brownish floating bubbles. Aroma is leather, roast, malts with a slight hoppy edge. Flavour is roasted malts, smoked wood and some hops balancing up the finish. Quite sticky palate. Aftertaste is pleasant roasted malts. Dark maroon with thin white head. Aroma of subtle campfire. Rich smoke throughout, especially in the finish, but it hides the porter to a degree. Still a nice one. cgarvieuk (25987) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 2, 2008
Bottle at home with Tom ... Thanks to the TheCheeseMan for this ... Deep Solid black ... very typical slightly fishy smokey nose ... im getting mostly the smokeyness off this ... but its got some porter character ... growing on my as i sit with it... Sorry FIn should have shared this with you, it would probably have been just up your street. omhper (25740) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 17, 2004
Bottled, thanks rauchbier! Near black. Smokey licorice aroma. Firm and rounded, but a bit clean. Intricate mix of burnt malt with smoke. Salty finish. madmitch76 (25568) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2010
10th October 2008. Falling Rock. Clear dark brown beer. Heavy malt and intense smokiness. A little hops almost an afterthought. I like smoked beers but don’t understand the reputation of this one.
