COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

Bottle. The pour was a very dark murky brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) frothy light brown head that dissipated slowly into just a few puddles and a ring of residue, leaving behind some really good sheets of lace. The aroma was right of front with a strong smoke odor and a moderate burnt dark bread malt, a light resin hop and a meaty yeast. It also had decently strong notes of dark chocolate, a dark roasted coffee and a hint of wood. The taste was smoky and mildly sweet with a hint of chocolate at first and then became moderately bitter and quite roasty with a nice dose of coffee and had a pronounced smoky finish. The flavor lasted a really long time after the swallow, being mostly of chocolate and coffee but having a strong smoky ending. Mouthfeel was right between medium and full in body with the texture being nice and creamy yet just a little dry and having a mild carbonation. Overall an impressive smoked beer that had a ton of flavor with a very nice blending of the smoke, so it did not become too overpowering on the taste buds.

Pours midnight black with tan head. Scent is cocoa and smoke. Taste is coffee, cream, dark chocolate, and more smoke. Heavy body. Crisp coffee finish. Good beer. Maybe Alaskan’s best.

2016 bomber. Opaque brown with minimal head. Smokey, oak, campfire aroma with rye bread background. Tastes like it smells, dry Smokey flavor with slight bread aftertaste. Medium body with a watery feel.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2017 0.65l bottle. Black color with medium sized beige head. Aroma: bacon, peppies, dark chocolate background, coffee. Taste: sweet, cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, subtle smoke. Full bodied, moderately to lively carbonated. Intense, complex, good. I could imagine more smoky flavor.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2017 0.65 l bottle shared at home. Pours black with beige head. Nose is-of course-smokey, with some sweetness. Taste is quite the same with long finish. I expected it to have more apparent porter notes, but it’s lovely nevertheless.

Bloody nice porter this one! It reminds me of the smoked bocks or the rauchbiers from Germany, but it is somewhat richer. I also taste chocolate, liquorice and some other flavours. Definitely a rich beer with a lot of depth.

Bottle @ home. 2012 batch. Superbly soft and balanced nuances of nutty, buttery, dark malts and a hint of dark fruits giving some bitter twist. Organic smoke is clearly visible on the background. Also a bit of lactose. Medium/wide taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with smokey, bit roasted malts. Medium body with light/medium carbonation. Still, a bit watery. Overall, very natural and tasty for the percentage, nicely matured. Could have a bit more body though.

Piwo koloru brunatno-wisniowego, przezroczyste pod światło, piana duża i całkiem nieźle się trzyma. Aromat lekko wędzony, trochę torfu, czekolady. W smaku podobnie, gładkie może trochę za mało ciała.

artemb (1219) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - OCT 18, 2017
Dark brown, clear, opaque, weak beige head.

Aroma: roasted, vinous, gentle smoked notes.
Taste: light sweetness, light tartness, light spicy bitterness.
Roasted and smoked flavour with subtle chocolate notes.

Very good.
