A: The pour is a dark brown/cola color with a thin off-white head.
S: A very heavy roast to the nose, unusual for a doppelbock. Mildly acidic with some dark fruit notes of cherries and prunes. A less pronounced sweetness than you would expect with dark chocolate and molasses.
T: The beer starts out with a cola sweetness and some hints of cherries and plums. Very roasty and much more bitter than I’ve ever experienced in a doppelbock. Some alcohol notes on the finish, which is harsh overall.
M: The body is medium with a smooth carbonation. Unfortunately, the finish is sort of ruined by the alcohol presence.
D: I was looking forward to this out of all the fall seasonals, but must say I was let down. This was more of a German Porter than a doppelbock, anyway. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

Ok, not bad.
OC tour, tap at Orange brewpub (Annihilator Doppelbock): Deep purple hue with small lasting head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of plum, grape, fig, caramel, toffee, walnut and herbal hop. The taste is very fruity and malty. A nice spicy tone throughout and a hint of molasses twang. The mouth feel is rich and lush, warming. Really nice bock, I dig it. Draft at Anaheim location. Clear reddish pour, small off-white head. Sweet malt, spoiled fruit, caramel, and SWEET! I did not enjoy this at all, terrible beer. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - DEC 8, 2005
Tasted at the 2005 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. Medium gold color. Small head. Aroma is very mild, malty, fruity and estery. Medium bodied dopplebock. Malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. Very smooth. Mildly spicy hops. Nice balance. Doesn’t have a lot of the huge malt character one would expect in a dopplebock, but a nice drinkable beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - JAN 12, 2009
