Bottle. Very dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma has malts, chocolate and vanilla. Sweet roasted malts, chocolate and a dry bitter finish for the taste. Medium bodied, pleasant mouthfeel. Good porter. johndoughty (5521) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 30, 2005
Dark black with traces of chocolate and vanilla. A complex and interesting beer. Ungstrup (38238) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - APR 17, 2005
A pitch black beer with a small brown head. The aroma is very fruity and also contains notes of prunes. The flavor is sweet with notes of prune pudding, chocolate, and roasted bread. The end is dry. RichardGretton (4770) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2005
Thick looking black beer with a lightly coffee aroma and a quite bitter, dry and lightly roasted flavour. Overall quite a plain dry beer. leaparsons (10696) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 23, 2005
Bottle Conditioned. Black with no head to speak of. Aromas are roast, sweet earthy malts with chocolate and floral hops. Flavours are dry, roast coffee with chocolate and more floral notes. Some smoky peat. Dry on the finish. A decent porter that doesn’t quite have the depth tha t is suggested by the alcohol percentage.
