Draft at the brewpub - Poured a quite dark reddish brown in color with a medium foamy light tan head that hung around. Aroma is of roasted malts, caramel and plenty of hops. Flavor follows pretty closely... lots of hops up front with a medium bitter bite that is nicely balanced by a good malt understructure. I am glad that John brought this one back... really good. josarah (112) - Hinesburg, Vermont, USA - APR 6, 2009
Draft at brewpub, Nice off white head with lasting tiny bubbles, clear mahogany color, hop aroma. A very clean brown ale with a robust hop taste. A very well brewed beer. Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 22, 2005
Dark brown ale with no head, light roasted nuts and caramel in aroma. Good nutty malt and caramel in mouth, sweet finish. Lighter bodied. Dec. 2004. muzzlehatch (4970) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 11, 2004
Pint at the brewpub. Very, very dark, almost black and opaque with a nice bit of lasting foam and good lacing...nutty with hints of vanilla in the nose and some sharp late aromatic hops...creamy body with underlying sharp nut-oil bitterness, and a long strong finish.
