COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian-inspired ale is loosely based on a Saison. A blend of Hallertau Mittlefrue and Amarillo hops lend a beautiful and delicate bitterness to a dry and malty background. No spices added.

Draft at the brewpub: Nice yeast & farmy aroma, nice white head, and cloudy yellow color. I think John brewed this batch a little different, the ABV was 7.5 and well masked and the flavor was a dead on Saison. I really like this beer.

16 oz. can via trade. Pours a cloudy pale yellow-gold with a small white head that settles into an uneven ring and really thin island of film, leaving a few ropes of trailing lace in the glass. The description is apt - "This Belgian-inspired ale is loosely based on a Saison" - because there’s a huge Belgian yeast influence here but the yeast is more potent than in most saisons, at least by today’s standards. There’s a lot of banana and lesser stone fruit, with muddled grass and herbs and florals, lemon, sweet malts, lemon, and straw. There’s a big wheaty, doughy thing in the middle. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, estery, fruity, malty mouthfeel. Minimal funk and spice. Lingering banana. If that were lessened, this would creep upward in my rating.

Farmhouse, straw, sweet grain and bread malts, straw, light spices, light alcohol. Hazy, pale gold, medium, creamy, white head. Medium sweet. More farmhouse yeast, sweet grain and bread malts, spices, dry, tarty bitterness, soft carbonation, medium bodied, dry and bitter finish. Outstanding Saison, rich, complex and well-balanced. Can at Hop City 17, Leeds.

Can. Hop City Festival. Very hazy, straw colour. Foamy, bright white head. Nose has spicy, floral hop. Bubblegum esters. Not a deal else, really. Hint of lemon. Taste is sweet and estery. Light dryness. Hint of hop bitterness. Soft and foamy mouthfeel. Spicy hop bitterness to finish.

Can (473 ml) at home. Split 3-ways with Minderbinder and JulienHuxley. Clear bright pale yellow-golden with a small white leaving little lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, banana notes, mild fruitiness and light spiciness. Taste is yeasty with banana notes, mild fruitiness, light spiciness and very light herbalness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Yeasty finish. Good Belgian Saison, old style. Very yeasty. Flavorful.

Draft. Pours a golden chardonnay like body with a white ring of lacing. Light yeast and fruit ester tones. Perfume with a musty dry floral tone. Sweet honey and bubble gum notes, earth and spices, with a hint of orange. A messy saison with a medium warming rounds this out.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a clear gold with lots of tiny fizzy bubbles. The aroma is surprisingly heavier on orange peel at first, followed by notes of yeast and bubble gum. Flavor... lots of sugary esters. Slightly tart red fruit, orange punch, and pure white sugar cane. This sort of tasted like a tart bubble gum. Finish has plenty of yeast and esters. Too sugary.

Tap at BT. Pours a mostly clear with a thin white head. Aroma is light spicy dupont yeastiness, some spicy earthy grassy hops, honey, toast, pepper, slight seafoam, unripe orange peel, and bubblegum phenols. Flavor is spicy, yeasty, light bready doughiness, medium sweetness in the middle, toast and honey with a waxy sugary candy thing going on, some off phenols, earth, spicy, bubblegum, hay mixed with spicy hops, and a medium sweet finish- not dry or refined. A bit messy.
