On tap at the Blind Tiger. Dark brown in color - very dark considering this is a doppelbock, with a receding tan head. Aroma of sweet maltts- caramel and toasted malt, some roast, some bread, and a touch of alcohol. Taste is sweet up front with molasses, toasted and bready malts, and a good deal of roast for a doppelbock- almost getting to porter territory. Light hop bitterness, medium full bodied, with only some light alcohol perceivable This was pretty nice. VTHopHead (1511) - Seymour, Tennessee, USA - MAR 1, 2009
Draft at the brewpub - Poured a very dark drown in color with a thick, foamy tan head. Aroma is malty with a medium roastiness and slightly sweet. Flavor is pretty much the same. A bit too sweet for my liking. Alcohol is very well hidden. Easy drinking. A good one... josarah (112) - Hinesburg, Vermont, USA - FEB 2, 2009
Draft at Brewpub: Sturdy tan head, deep mahogany color, sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty flavor, well masked alcohol, nice mouth feel. This could easily be a session ale if the alchol level was not as high (8%+). Another great beer by John.
