Draft at brewpub, deep copper color, malty aroma. Great toasty, roasty ,malty beer. This batch had a much lower ABV (5.3) and the IBU’s 25. The perfect autumn beer.

Sampled at Dan’s. Poured a light brown under a smaller beige head. Aroma is herbal, tea bags, earthy, brown paper bags. Flavor is better than the aroma, light chocolate malts, tea, earthy hops, dry grass. Can thanks to Vin! Pours hazy copper, large beige head, creamy and long lasting, nice lacing. Aroma is roasty Bready caramel malts, pine. Flavor is medium sweet, fully bitter, roasty and piney. 16oz can purchased on site at The Alchemist. Pours a hazy, brown, caramel color with a sudzy, frothy, quickly dissipating off white to beige head. Smells of hops and malt. Sweet, malty, caramel flavor with a hoppy backbone. Lovely tasting beer. Small mouthfeel, smooth, not too carbonated and light. Pleasantly surprised. Well done.

16 oz. can. Kinda murky amber body. Medium white head. Smells kinda like rye, though I read the description and I know it’s not. Also grassy hops, nutty maltiness. Tastes of rye as well. Grapefruit hops. Sweet and bready malts. Aggressively bitter. Medium body and kinda creamy. Not what expected. Dynamic flavors, none of which scream northeast pale ale. Pours hazy reddish with high creamy beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, fruits. Taste is of roasted malt, bitterness, toasted stuff. Palate: Medium body, light-medium carbonation. Pours a clear dark amber with a small to medium beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Nose is quite on the roasty side and almost ashy with some caramel and pine. Taste is more caramel, roasted malt and is moderately bitter. Some toffee. What is that? Not quite a black IPA and really not up to the level of Heady... Medium body, medium carbonation. A little harsh. We’re used to wet hop beers being awkward sometimes but I never expected The Alchemist to release something like that. Can, shared. Cloudy dark orange with a small off-white head leaving some lacing. Aroma is of earthy spiciness, floral hops, caramel and rotten notes. Taste is caramel forward with loads of earthy spiciness, grains and rotten notes. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Spicy finish. That’s quite bad. Ok it’s an Harvest Ale, but coming from The Alchemist it’s disappointing. Cloying.
