A red-brown beer with a chocolate brown disappearing head. The aroma is slightly roasty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and candy sugar, leading up to a dry end. In my book this isn’t a porter, but closer to a Vienna, though it is still an OK beer.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 Bottled. Black opaque, huge brown foamy head. Fruity aroma and a bit soapy too. Sweet roasted malt with hints of caramel in the flavour. Sweetish finish, not much aftertaste. 8 4 8 3 15 (March 2005).

Bottled (BBE 30.12.2007, enjoyed Feb 2012). Very deep amber colour, close to black, with a big creamy beige head. Aroma is slightly oxidized sweet malts, mild raisins and some toffeeish notes. Flavour is rather much the same, rather sweet, and quite madeira like. 8 4 8 3 16.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle in Riga. Fully flavoured dark beer but not too bitter. Slight smoke in the undertone. Long dry finish with some fruit coming through. Different. Decent.

Papsoe (25056) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 31, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) A dark, reddish brown beer with a bubbly, beige, dissipating head. Aroma of roasted malt and dried fruit. Fairly solid body, Starts rather sweet, but you quickly get the sense of some burned malt that also leave a fairly distinct bitterness. A very solid Porter. 300706
