This medium-bodied ale is dark in color and deceiving on the palate. The glassy smooth finish of this beer is your first hint that dark in color doesn't always mean heavy in stomach.

Bottle, thanks Immanuel! Sweet chocolate malt aroma with notes of roasted malt. Pours dark brown with with a thin light brown head and a touch of lacing. Starts with roasted malt flavor with a nice medium body. Finishes smooth with the chocolate malt coating the palate at the end. Very good porter.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours nearly black with a medium tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate malt and mild piney hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Black body with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, moderate to lively carbonation. Chocolate, roast and toffee taste. The body could be heftier, but an enjoyable porter nonetheless.

Thin for a porter but also very tasty. Perhaps this is a summer porter. It lacks the boozy, stickiness of a classic porter but is strong on bitter chocolates and roasted malt. I will definitely get more.

Pitch black with a khaki colored thin head. Aroma of roasted barley, dark chocolate, cocoa sweetness and coffee. Flavors of chocolate, roasted barley, coffee and some mild but noticeable hoppiness. Very roasty aftertaste. Light body with some moderate carbonation. Quite tasty and easy to drink.

Bottle. A ton of chocolate in the nose. Dark brown pour with minimal tan head. Flavor is dark chocolate with no tartness. Very good.

Nsanders (1163) - St Paul, Minnesota, USA - APR 14, 2014
Bottle. Deep brown with a full sized light brown head. Very malty, a little chocolate and ash and an earthy background. Flavor has a light malty sweetness and a long dry finish. Medium bodied with a foamy feel.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black like every other newage Porter. The aroma is not clean, but not English esters either, maybe a bit of a vanilla character. The taste is very roasty and I am getting some black licorice which I do not care for. Not as bitter as a lot of the competition. Pretty good, but there are a lot of better Porters out there.

Bottle from madbeerbaron. Pours deep brown with caramel border. Aroma is faint coffee(espresso?), maybe some cocoa, and bread. Taste is rich malt, some light coffee notes. Not a deep flavor but nice and smooth.

Bottle. Flavor is very chocolately, with a coffee or espresso taste. Very smooth, with lots of flavor, but also drinkable. A great porter!
