Dark brown, coffee and roasted malt aroma. Strong coffee, roasted, almost smokey flavor. More flavor than body, and finishes quickly.
Keg @ Ale Asylum. 08/14/16. Deep brown pour with a tiny head. Nose is caramel and brown sugar. Cocoa. Just the lightest suggestion of butter. Flavor is similar. Light toastiness. Fitting comfortably within the English aesthetic, Contorter Porter offers a lot of malty roastiness yet a generous amount of hops for a pleasant finishing bitterness. Aroma reveals a deep level of roast, almost to the point of being smoky. Caramel, chocolate, and subtle cream flavors. Some hints of fresh coffee. Rich, hearty feel. Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a nice one finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly lacing.
The aroma starts with some roasty coffee and cocoa bean. Some dried dark cocoa powder fluffs it up a bit.
The flavor balances nicely between the sweet and the roast. Sly crisp sweet to roasty aftertaste with a nice sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Low carbonation helps it feel smooth all around.

Tap at Brewery. Dark brown with decent head. Smells roasty and of sourdough. I get a smokiness in the flavor.
