Huge thanks go out to BeerFMAndy (BA) for this bottle in a surprise box that landed on my doorstep! I’ve been wanting to try this one for awhile.
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear dark orange with a small off-white head on top. Light lace left behind. Big scents of pine needles, grapefruit juice, lemon, and a sweet floral tone. Very nice indeed.
Firm crisp mouth with decent carbonation. Not too filling. Starts out with a smooth mellow sweetness, then switches to crisp sharp hops. Great bitter bite there. Finish is bitter, but not scalding. Excellent hoppy beer. I would love to session this beer, and would if I had access to it locally. Thanks, Andy!

Nice rich and hazy copper coloured body with an amber and almost ruby tint with a nice two centimetre tall tan head - this is what an APA should look like! Aroma of rich deep citrus, resinous and piney hops with a strong malt backbone and even hints of caramel sweetness and alcohol - very nice indeed. Medium-bodied; Nice hoppy flavour at first with a good pungent citrus and slightly piney note with a smooth and almost light malt backbone - very nice and perfect for the style. Aftertaste shows complexity and well-rounded qualities with the hops and malt balanced by some light sweetness and a hint of airy fruity flavours. Overall, a very nice and almost perfect APA that rivals Tuppers for the best in the style, but if I could have this everyday, it would be nice, but it’s even better that I can get Hop Pocket Ale everyday! I sampled this twelve ounce stubby bottle purchased from Three Cellars in Franklin, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$1.89 sampled at home in Washington on 27-November-2012. Draft at the brewpub. Golden orange brew, the head is sticky and staying. Delivers a nice, mellow citrus burn, very smooth and drinkable. Excellent, quaffable offering. (#5110, 7/2/2013) sharkbcr (162) - Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2014
Golden amber color with minimal head. Aroma is malty / citrus. Taste is grapefruit with a subtle malt finish. One of the best American Pale Ales I’ve had in a while ntlwhlr (26) - Illinois, USA - MAY 21, 2014

Smooth and lightly hoppy. Sweet caramel flavor with a slight citrus flavor. First time drinking this but I can tell you already not my last time. After just one I can say that this will make my list of regulars. gueuzefarts (6) - Wisconsin, USA - SEP 13, 2006 does not count
(On tap @ the Angelic) Hopalicious indeed. Creamy head, beautiful deep amber body. Sweet aroma, but very bitter on impact! Even more bitter the way down--the aftertaste is crisp but bitter and grapefruity. JPDIPSO (6286) - Wauwatosa, USA - NOV 19, 2006
Tap @ On Back In. Lightly hazed dark golden to light amber color with a moderate tight bubbled off-white head. Grapefruit and lightly toasted malt aromas in the forefront, with mild caramel and citrus along with just a hint of alcohol. I like the fact that they are calling this an APA vs. an IPA. The grain bill is much more appropriate for an APA, as most of the so called IPAs out there. Bold hops a mild malt base. Vary much a pure APA, which I must reward them for that. Yes, it is a hopshead brew, but it is an APA that is full of hops flavors and a mild bitter balance. drowland (9077) - Georgia, USA - AUG 4, 2009
Had this on tap and from the bottle at the brewpub. This stuff is amazing! Nice grassy hops with that wonderful fresh hop taste without being overly bitter. Great stuff.
