Really nice balance between sweetness and mouthfeel. Had a really curvy sort of heavyness, deffinatly present but not truly heavy. Sweetness was kinda the same way deffinatly present but not sugary or overly carmely. Usually not a huge scotch ale fan but like all styles of beer the really good ones make you forget all the ones you didnt care for.

Pretty good beer and close adherence to style. Served at a good temperature with a nice, foamy, light tan head that soon subsided to a ring. Color is a clear orange-brown-honey amber. Aroma is heavy on the malt, some fruit, caramel, vanilla, hint of peat. Flavors very similar to nose with just enough carbonic tang to balance. Body is full, round, slightly dense and carbonation is perhaps a touch low. Finish is like flavor, long and a little boozy.

I rate beers I think significantly better than average, simple as that. I am not into showing off through word games. :)

Draft at the brewpub. Dark, muddy brown. Delivers a rich malt character in an unassuming manner. Nothing quite stands out, other than very decisive richness and body. Otherwise it hides its 7.2 very well, a great malt bomb. (#5114, 7/2/2013)

Bottle. Pours mostly clear amber with nice white head. Typical scotch ale. Caramel and nutty. Pretty good.

Draft at the brewpub. Orange-brown color. Nice foamy head. Looks filtered, but hard to verify. Well balanced, with the smooth maltiness per the style, but with a respectable hoppiness as well. A touch more earthy freshness than a typical Scottish Ale.

Sampler at the brewpub shared with ck1, thanks bro! Pours a rich dark brown with red highlights. Aroma has a nice earthy peaty caramel smell. Taste is a super sweet sticky caramel. Finishes sticky sweet and hangs around for a while. Perhaps the best scotch ale Ive had - quite interesting.

Enjoyed on tap as part of a sampler at Ale Asylum in Madison, WI. Appearance is a moderate caramel brown with a thin white head. Aroma mostly malty, nice. Taste super smooth, caramel notes, little burn, good stuff.

Bottle pours burnt red/brown with a khaki head. Aroma is extremely malt driven with notes of caramel/toffee, nuts, cocoa, and earth. Flavor shows much of the same with a brown sugar/blackstrap sweetness as well as additional notes of dates and light peat. Overall body is moderate to full and the finish is fairly balanced.
