COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tart and bready, this East Bay Sour is a funk forward lactic mutha that finishes nutty, malty with a touch of oak. Six months in the barrel gave the brettanomyces lambicus and the lactobacillus brevis plenty of time to build that mouth watering, puckering bite that we know you’ve learned to crave. Wheat and Pilsen malts were "sour mashed" for 16 hours then paired with a touch of aged saaz in the kettle.

3/4 pint bottle acquired in a trade. Pours golden with a minimal head. Aroma is tart with hints of grass and lemon. Taste is buttery at once but slides over in a more tart citrusy finish.

On tap at Ale Industries, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out plenty of brett, with light citrus and a hint of lacto - very dry and not overly fruity for the style. Flavour confirms the nose’s impression, with light citrus, dry wild yeasts and a touch of lacto. Clean and complex. Very good.

Pour is a pretty still gold, smell of vinegar, yeast and sweetness. Taste is like pure vinegar, overwhelming and yeasty. I don’t understand how that can be considered good

Bottle thanks to Ontape ! Pours a medium to deep golden color with a finger of white foam. Nose is tart lacto fuzz, some barnyard funk, lemon, soft wheat notes. Palate follows with a bit heavier mouthfeel than I would expect for the style. Round cream of wheat backbone, bright tart lemon and layers of horsehair and light barnyard funk lingers. Solid sour beer a touch off the mark for a berliner though.

Pretty decent sour. Starts sorta dry, bread-like, Finishes with a note of apple cider.

Bottle: Thanks, Jeff. Hazy, light yellow-straw body with a small white head that fades instantly to a thin collar. Aroma is quite mild. Lemony & lightly lactic, light backbone of wheat, grain, & must. Flavor is nice & tart up front; lemon, white grape, under-ripe stone fruit. Mild hints of grain, hay, & straw. Finish turns kind weird. The acidity turns into a strange combo of cardboard, butter, popcorn kernel, & mildew. Woody lingering with those weird flavors. Aftertaste coated with stale popcorn. Kind of kills the vibe. Otherwise, it’s actually alright, but I’m not sure what’s going on in the finish.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2014 Bottle. Surprised at the fairly low rating, I think this is a nicely done BW. Pours a shiny, hazy gold with initial white head and rising bubbles. Smell hints at the tartness to come with some oak and brett shining through. Taste has a quick strike of puckering sour that cleans up pretty quick and gives way to lacto/brett funk. I’m all for it.

Was odd to see so many low rates of this beer. Bottle I shared with Westmeister was fanatastic. Bottle - Receive in Trade
