Cask conditioned handpump Lyric London 13/05/13. A very very dark purple coloured beer with a whitish head. A tasty hoppy black beer with lots of coffee and some sweet malts. Hops are berry fruit domianted rather than your typical citrus. Quite complex but really too sweet and too much coffee for a BIPA. Probably divides opinion but I liked it.
Sehr dunkel orangebraune Farbe, ordentliche beige Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, viel Kaffee, ordentliche gehopft, bitter. Geschmack fruchtig hopfig, gleichzeitig aber auch viel Kaffee, ganz ok aber könnte gehaltvoller sein. imdownthepub (15160) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 17, 2015
Cask conditioned at The King’s Head, Leicester. Black with cream head. There are bitter chocolate notes from the start, quite dry and full, there is a lingering hoppy note alongside the dark roasted malts, some fruitiness. Very pleasant indeed. Bottle @ home the day my first child, a son, was born. Dark red-brown (when your glass is half full) to almost black (when your glass is full) color with a nice dark red glare coming through, average sized off-white head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, hops, roasted malts and some liquorice hints. Taste malts, roasted malts, hops, citrus lightly, good solid malt bitter and roasty bitter. Good balance between fruity hops and roasted malts and spectacularly flavorful for a beer of only 4.8% ABV. Solid body too with suitable carbonation. Very well done imo. Or perhaps I’m just overwhelmed by the events of today. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - FEB 25, 2015
Bottled (Ales By Mail). Black colour with a small beige head. Aroma is citrusy, some liquorice, mild ashy notes as well as some floral and mild toasted notes. Flavour is liquorice, toasted malts, some ashes, zest, chocolate and some mild ripe fruits as well. gunnar (9483) - Sandnes, NORWAY - FEB 17, 2015
500 ml bottle from Ales By Mail. Pours almost pitch black with a small creamy tanned head. Slightly roasted aroma with some dark chocolate and liquorice. Taste is weak roasted dark malts, coffee, liquorice, good body considering the abv, well suitable carbonation level, lingering liquorice and weak tar. Very good.

Pours black color with a small head. Orange and some licorice on the nose, mild hop notes and faint malty tones. Orange and mandarin on the flavor, subtle licorice, slightly burnt malt notes and distant chocolate on the finish. Bitter palate, slightly thin which was kind of expected, lingering bitter fruity finish. Decent.
Bottle. Black and lively on opening. Some citrus and hops with a dry finish. Plenty of body and a reasonable all round drink. NancyBoyDIY (5) - London, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 10, 2015 does not count
Many assumptions will be made on first appearance; a long history of specialism and seclusion comes with any dark beer. Alechemy destroys boundaries with it’s battering ram of hops, sweetness and surprisingly light touch on your palate. Some hybrids offer the worst of both worlds; this is no marriage of convenience, this is a loving relationship, a real life odd couple. Over-consumption of its qualities, however, may lead to ruin. Start the evening off with this modern classic and you will provide yourself with the solid footing necessary for any substantial session of note. Aroma: citrus fruits, grapefruit, liquorice, some chocolate. Appearance: clear, dark amber, medium, frothy, white head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: bitters coming up very quickly, malts remain in the background, roasted flavours. Overall: incredibly nice Black IPA, excellent aroma. Pint at The Fox, Haggerston. mabel (9245) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 18, 2014
[6521-20140710] Cask. Smoked wood plank aroma has a nice chocolate malt undertone. Hazy, dark cola body with a medium-lasting tan head. Bitter smoked wood grain flavour has a mild fruity aftertaste. Full body. Tasty, nice hoppy profile. (8/3/8/3/16) 3.8
