20.1.2015. Big brown head on black beer. Aroma of pine, roasted malts, grassy hops, liquorice. Taste is hoppy, roasty, pine, grass. Roasted bitter finish.

edsspoon (894) - Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - FEB 4, 2015
Bottle - deep ruby red with a bubbling foamy light brown head. Good retention, good lacing. Aroma of ripe fruits, chocolate, a little cocoa and some liquorice. Taste is of liquorice, grass and tar followed by sweet fruits with mang and peach and finally a sharp roasty bitter finish. Heavy body, low carbonation.

33 cl bottle.
Pours dark red, almost black color with a large off-white head. Lots of milk chocolate and oat on the nose, some cocoa, orange and resinous hops. Dry chocolaty flavor, a bit ashy too, cocoa powder, grapefruits and hints of coffee there also. No licorice or excessive roastiness here, slightly deviating from your typical CDAs. Medium to strong carbonation, full-bodied, bitter fruity-chocolaty aftertaste. Tasty.

Idiosynkrasie (7516) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 24, 2015
330ml bottle. Dark brown colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, fruity and minimally floral hoppy overtones with hints of orange. Taste is minimally sweet, roasty, chocolately dark malty, mildly citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of orange, a touch of lemon, some roasty spiciness; long lasting, dry, roasty, minimally mineral and papery finish, soft palate, creamy texture. Nicely homogeneous, integrated, compact.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

BBE FEB 2015 - Pours drak brown, almost black with a smooth bubbly head. Aroma of roasty malts, chocolate, citrus, grassy hops, licorice, hints of floral notes and pine. Taste is hoppy, roasty and slick with loads of licorice, pine, chocolate and grassy hops. Finish is bitter, roasty and really hoppy with notes of licorice, chocolate, grass and pine. Quite aggressive, but I like this.

Hermod (7843) - Vantaa, FINLAND - DEC 26, 2014
33cl bottle from AbM. Pours black in color, thin off white head, lacing. Fresh hoppy aroma, citrus, chocolate, roasted malt. Flavor has citrusy notes, roasted malt, licorice, mud cake. Very dry, roasted, somewhat ashy finish. Slightly unbalanced. Still one of the better black IPAs I have had this year. Feels fresh. High drinkability.

330 ml bottle. From
Behind my advent calendar door #6. Dark reddish brown colour with a small light tan head. Sweet malt, cocoa, chocolate, mild roasted malt and only a small hint of hops in the aroma. The flavour is roasted malt, ashy dryness, hops, bitterness and harshness. Very strongly hopped porter this is. Unbalanced.
