3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Standard Market. I think. Just a regular blonde ale color in my tumbler. A tight white head. Malty smell with a note of alcohol, and yes, I think I do catch some cedar. Taste is nice and malty, at the low end of the "Imperial" scale. Some sharp hop coming in on a different track, unless that’s the slightly piny taste of cedar aging. Frankly, what I’ve got is a big malty beer without the sugary over tone I get with most blonde ales.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Oso. Unfiltered copper orange-brown body. Foamy off-white head. Tastes like a mash up of styles. Brown Ale, IPA, Belgian Blonde...a touch of amber malt? Extract sweet thickness. Not so good, not so bad. Overall kind of amateur hour.

On tap at O’so Tap House. Amber with a creamy tan head. Aroma is rather herbal with cedar, pine and some caramel. Herbal tasting with tree bark, sandalwood, caramel and mild citrus. Moderate bitterness with a spicy finish. Nice.

Kegs were miscollared as a white cedar IPA. Actually brewed as an imperial blonde that was lightly dry-hopped and aged on white cedar. Makes a big difference in how you approach it. I like it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Bigby’s in Addison, IL., and shaker served with a hazed, orange/amber hue, soft white head foam, and very clingy, curtainy lacing that remained on the glass throughout. The nose was light but pleasantly perfumy, resin, some fruit sweetness, and citrus. A lightly woody, cedar scent was noticeable on revisiting the aroma as it warmed a bit. Medium bodied with decent carbonation, the flavor presented a medium but healthy hop bitterness that was tempered nicely by a good malt content. Milder east coast or British style IPA? I felt that it was more of a solid, very drinkable Pale Ale. Enjoyed the additional cedar wrinkle!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Jerry’s. Darker gold with creamy, white head, some lacing / Mellow, floral nose of honey, spun sugar, lacto, citrus, pine / Medium body, fat with soft carbonation, smooth, creamy, moderately sweet but with fine, subdued hop balance, and lightly bitter finish / Mellow but elegant flavors of clover honey, violet, orange peel, graepfruit, caramel, cinnamon / A little on the sweeter, less biting side, giving it a heavier mouthfeel, but still nicely done with an interesting flavor mix.
