Bottle 650ml @ TFODRBSG12Dedollewaitor (16608) - Odense, DENMARK - AUG 23, 2012
Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma has notes of malt, dried fruits, caramel, oak and vanilla. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a long oak, vanilla and warm finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.
My Rating # 10800. Bottle @ Danish Summer Gathering Ulfborg, 2012. Bottle # 105/ 433. Pours ruby amber with a small creamy head. Nose is roast, bourbon, toffee, vanilla and fruit. Very vinous and deep. Flavor ads a bit of fruity acidicity. Nice sipper. tderoeck (10983) - Gent, BELGIUM - NOV 25, 2012

Clear cola brown beer, no head. Aroma: very spicy, pepper, wood, dark caramel, hint of mocha, vanilla, sugary, syrup, dried fruits, rum raisins, alcohol. MF: soft carbon, full body, thick almost syrupy texture. Taste: surprisingly sour start, sour white wine, unripe red forest fruits, red currants, then caramel, sweet alcohol is very numbing, bit spicy, citric acidity, figs, sour molasses (I have this bottle of Lebanese sour molasses from figs, don’t ask). Aftertaste: little bitter, then sweet and sour, red currants, big sugary, spices, vanilla, lots of alcohol, bit of dried fruits and molasses.
Shared by GT. Thanks man!
The beer is cola brown with a small tan head. The aroma brings a potent dose of oak, funk, malt, toffee, booze, vanilla. The flavor offers toast with vanilla, bourbon, oak. Complex and wonderful. Present sourness throughout. Amazingly, this works quite well. I am really surprised how well the sour character and robust barleywine components mesh together. Medium bodied with moderately low carbonation. Light warming alcohol in the finish. Overall, this was thoroughly enjoyable. I could sip on this all night. djd07 (16456) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Bottle 2/433 thanks to Markwise. Pours a cloudy coppet with small off white head. The aroma is light oak and vanilla. Medium mouthfeel with light oak and bourbon with sweet finish. Held up very well, an impressive Barley wine from Alesmith.

(AleSmith Decadence 2008 - Barrel Aged) Bottle 750 ml at home, neck wrapped in a gold foil, bottle 340/433. Served into a snifter, ABV 11%
Deep brown colour on the body, tall but thin beige head on top, with average retention.
Aroma of soy sauce, alcohol, bourbon, wood, cork, fortified wine, alcohol.
Taste is initially sweet with a light sour touch following, but only for a while. Bourbon is coming after that, wood and cork again, strong alcohol, tanines, red grapes and vinioous notes, more bourbon on the finish, more warming alcohol.
Medium thick body, good carbonation, dry and tart on the palate.
Different than what I expected but still pretty damn good. BeerHawk (1811) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - AUG 27, 2011
Bottle #118 of 433 - Thanks Scott and Abby!. Poured brown with a tan head. Aroma of whiskey, vanilla, molasses and a backing of dark fruits. The flavor found tart dark fruit and a good malt backbone. Light alcohol in the flavor. Medium to full body, long tart and vanilla aftertaste. Nice! chrisv10 (18838) - DENMARK - AUG 18, 2012
Bottle#105 @ FOneFan, Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2012. Aroma is malt, dark fruits, vanilla and oak. Flavour is malt, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, vinous, vanilla, bourbon, oak, medium sweet, hop and a little bitter. Scopey (16548) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 4, 2012
Bottle from a trade with richiesd, consumed at THE Barley Wine Tasting, August 2012. Bottle #245/433. Last barley wine of an epic session and thankfully a very good one at that! It pours very dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is very fruity indeed; blackcurrant, cherry, jammy, toasted coconut, caramel and vanilla. The taste is blackcurrant jam, tangy, currant, plum, prune, wood, caramel, vinous, vanilla and underlying alcohol warmth, with a jammy fruit finish. Full body and carbonation. Smooth, flavoursome a well balanced. Probably the most unique out of the (many) barley wines we tasted that evening. I am yet to have a bad beer for these guys!
