Bottle thanks to DuffManSW. Mahogany pour with a frothy white head. Luscious ripe banana notes accented with strong clove warm spices, and rich velvety molasses. Has just a touch of cinnamon on the finish. Full, velvety mouth feel with gentle carbonation. Vac (2445) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 19, 2012
Flavor and Aroma are full of malty sweetness with notes of dark fruit and a hint of caramel. ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - DEC 17, 2009
on tap at toronado on 12/15 for the SD release! how lucky was i, an east coaster, to be there for this one?! pours a dark brown with hints of copper and a thin, light tan head leaving a ring of lace. the next quote is from my notes:
"spicy, banana bread, herbs, ginger, fruit cake, nutty malts, prickly carbonation...fucking great! like schneider on roids!"
i think that pretty much sums it up. hope the bottles, if i can get one, taste as good as the draft version. alesmith amazes me again. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - MAR 13, 2010
Sampled on 1/29/2010. This weisenbock pours a deep ruby drown color form a 750ml bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head with nice retention. The aroma is sweet, malty, brown sugar abd molasses. A medium bodied dunkel. The malts are dark fruit and sweet, brown sugar and molasses. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Sweet, malty and hoppy. Very smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Boutip (6312) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 12, 2010
Bottle: Poured a clear dark burgundy color bock with a super large light brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of banana bread with caramelized brown sugar notes is simply spectacular. Taste is a perfect mix between some freshly baked banana bread with great note of caramelized sugar and subtle dry fruits. Body is full but has a nice creamy texture which really fits for the style with great carbonation and alcohol is really not apparent. One of the best weizen bock I have tasted and truly a great surprise from a great brewer.

750 ml bottle a gift from footbalm! Thanks Eric! My rating #3000! Nose of rich ripe bananas, clovey, cinnamon wheat bread, vanilla hints, and yeasty goodness. Really rich and fruity. Hazy brown with a medium, glassing, beige head. Flavor is light banana cake, hints of toffee, and hazelnuts, and lots of caramel. Excellent (see scores) Wish I had gone down and gotten a case of bottles! SDalkoholic (2375) - Linda Vista, California, USA - NOV 6, 2012
Bottle from South Bay Drugs and Liquor: Liquid poured as a dark leather brown color with a thick fluffy head, but it only took a minute or two for the foam to die down. In the aroma, my nose is instantly gratified with a chewy scent of German yeast and malts that contain memories of bubblegum, toffee, and raisin. The flavor is rich and sweet and is partly due to the authentic usage of German like malt that radiates an almost toffee brittle like taste that also taste as if its combined with sugar cube. Now considering the yeast, it is a gentle and soft strain compared to other weizenbocks and compliments the malts because of its sweet banana and bubblegum like corners, but deep in center is a pinch of spice and almost seems to fall under the pumpkin pie spice cabinet category. paytoplay (146) - , California, USA - DEC 16, 2009
not a fan or with much experience in this style, well alesmith has done it again. stunning beer, subtle, complex, roasted banana, herb and chocolate malt and goodness. as drinkable as any other 9% alc beer i’ve had. 6 to maybe 18 months of age once this is released might also reward this beer. then again this is a draft example, the bottles might tighten up. look forward to enjoying this beer several more times. UPDATED: MAR 13, 2010 750 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a dark red brown color with a medium khaki head that has fair retention. The aroma is distinct with murky fruits; apricots, mangoes, apples, sweet burnt barley and roasted chestnuts. The taste is similar to the aroma, lots of complex fruits with roasted grains. The palate is full and smooth. The finish is long and dry with lingering roasted grains and cocoa. Overall: This is one very tasty wiezenbock that should age superbly.
