Amber pour with lots of smoke, toffee and maple. There is plenty of booziness with light smoke and some balanced bitterness. Pretty damn tasty. Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Bottle sampled at phillybeerscene bottle share. Aroma is sweet and smokey like mesquite (but tamer). Nice malty profile. Pours brown red with slight lacing. Taste is very pleasant. The smoke has faded into a pleasant balance of campfire and maple sugar. Overall, nice and meaty with some sweet bbq. Understated but good. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 17, 2013
25.4 oz bottle. Cloudy brown with beige froth. Nose is caramel, light smoke and raisin. Medium body with a tang. Taste is caramel, smoke; just the perfect touch of smoke; hints of maple with a slight touch of grass. Great hybrid. mcberko (17178) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 16, 2013
750mL bottle, pours an opaque, murky dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out light notes of smoke, medium maple, some caramel and dark fruits. Flavour brings out low-to-medium notes of smoke, moderate maple, lots of caramel and dark fruits. The smoke and maple, which initially set off alarm bells for me, are not too overbearing - they are well-situated. Dry smoky palate with a perfect amount of sweetness. Iím glad I waited more than a year to open this, as Iím sure the maple and smoke is better integrated than at bottling. Still, not my favourite flavours, but or what it is, itís great. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUN 6, 2013

Cloudy red - brown beer, big pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate, almost silky. Semi dry. Creamy malt, a little toffee. Smooth aniseed alcohol, no heat. Subtle sweetness. Very subtle smoke. Whisper of spicy bubblegum ester. Semi dry finish. Pretty drinkable.

Dark mahogany pour, thick yellowish white head. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, vanilla extract, and fussil alcohol. Taste is rich smokey malt, candied pecans, syrup, and mild hops. Nice combination of hops and smoke with an earthy presence in the background. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 11, 2013
Murky caramel-brown with good, creamy, tan head (barrel-aged?) / Rich, lightly hot nose of smoke, caramel, / Just shy of full body, sweet and chewy, smooth, with excellent balance and bitter finish lurking under the big body, and alcohol well masked / Flavors of fresh caramel, maple, just the right amount of smoke, orange, date, licorice, and oak? / One of the best barleywines Iíve ever had.
